Le Carousel is Phil Kieran's latest LP, which is great, it was a pleasure to work with this track, and all the better because I decided I was going to do something weird with it! The lovely pads and vocals provided the backbone for my remix, and I just tried to accentuate these with a long ambient build.

The track would probably work better just with this ambient part and no more, but I decided to add on some sort of odd drop at the end, where it goes all hectic with lots of double timed randomised beats. To continue with the unexpected theme I went for another extended build to total distortion, climaxing in nothingness!

It's probably not the easiest track to fit into a set unless you just use the ambient part, but it's always nice to just let go and mess around with a track without worrying about how it might function outside of what you feel you want to do musically at the time.

Release date is 23rd September on PKR

Nach einer scheinbar endlosen Pause, starten wir ab sofort wieder mit unserer heiß geliebten Podcast-Reihe!

Und wer wäre für die erste Abfahrt besser geeignet als der techno-infusierte Coco.

In Berlin treibt er sich nicht nur seit geraumer Zeit als DJ in Clubs wie Sisyphos, Kater Blau, Salon zur Wilden Renate und dem Goldengate rum (um nur einen Bruchteil zu nennen), sondern feiert und organisiert seit nunmehr 21 Jahren seine berühmt-berüchtigte und Underground-orientierte, 36 Stunden Partyreihe „Betriebsfeier“ auf der Berliner Hoppetosse und ist zudem Mitbegründer des Rote Dichte Festivals.

Er selber beschreibt seine Musik als „mental, minimal, groovy, tief und treibend“, angesiedelt „zwischen House und Techno plus Ausuferungen“ und liebt es, Musik zu machen, damit „idealerweise ein friedlicher, magischer Moment entsteht, der uns befreit, an nichts denken, sondern nur gemeinsam fühlen lässt“.

Auch als Produzenten kennt man Coco. 
Zuletzt erschienen ist sein Release „Die Tuer“ auf „as usual music“.

Und welche Themen ihn als Mensch gerade besonders beschäftigen?:
„Wege finden: Vom Individualtourismus zurück zur Gruppenreise.“

I'll be closing the Origin stage at Glade this year - 17 June 2012, which I'm really looking forward to, so when they asked if I'd like to provide a podcast for the festival I jumped right on it. This podcast will be very different from my set on the day, that will include all my favourite stuff from over the years, while this set is more of a preview and demo of my recent productions. My latest Egomodal EP on Traum features heavily, along with some recent remixes of Agoria, FC Kahuna and Phil Kieran which I've been playing out a lot recently. I hope you enjoy it!

My approach for this mix was defined by the fact that I had to do it while travelling for my Americas tour. So I picked out a selection of my favourite tracks before leaving, and was constrained to use only these. The difficulty was that I had chosen a load of different genres, so it turned into a puzzle of how to fit them all together into some sort of coherent flow. It was a good way to work in the end as it encouraged me to make edits of lots of the tracks, and also lead to some nice unexpected combinations.

Sinnbildlich für den entschleunigten Wandel unserer Zeit meldet sich Furikuri aus der Home-Disco mit einem speziellen Geschenk. Die langsamen Pioniere von @Sutsche liefern uns einen Soundtrack, der nicht besser in diese gemächliche Zeit passen könnte.
90 minuten lang drehen sich die Schallplatten hypnotisch auf 33 Rpm im Kreis und entfachen ihren verborgenen Zauber.

Eines wundervollen Sommertages lag der liebe Volker an einem brasilianischen Strand, ließ sich die Sonne auf sein Haupt scheinen. Der angenehm süßliche Geruch der Sonnencreme stieg ihm in die Nase. Der Wind strich sanft durch die Palmen. Von Zeit zu Zeit meldete sich die wilde Stimme des Urwalds. Das Leben schien perfekt. Volker am wegdösen, der Gesichtsausdruck leicht dämlich entgleist, da springt er auf und schreit: 
"Was mach ich hier eigentlich?! Ich muss unbedingt ein paar Tracks zocken."
Herr Arnold düst geschwind zum nächstebesten DJ Pult und legt  gewohnter Manier ein paar feine Töne übernander. 
Aber genug der Worte, hört am besten selbst was der gute Mann da zusammengeschnibbselt hat.
