We wanted to bring out the sacred dance of flamenco, which is rooted in the Indian Bharatanatyam and the sacred theatre of the Kathakali. Each of these highly ritualised performance arts take their cue from the Sanskrit treatise, Natya Shastra, in which it’s explained that the primary goal (of all arts) is to transport the audience member “into another parallel reality, full of wonder, where they experience the essence of their own consciousness, and reflect on spiritual and moral questions.”

The percussive sounds of the flamenco express the Nataraja, the Lord of the Dance, whose arms and legs are moving like the blur at the centre of the atom, as he rapidly beats out the vibrational frequency, or Word of God, of the creation. So when the Romanies migrated across the Christian Roman Empire, they carried their sacred lore secretly with them in their beats, not just in their drums and castanets, but also in their foot stomping, finger-clicking and hand clapping, all of which I think Andreas (@APi_ZZ) captures perfectly in his brililantly exciting, authentic-sounding arrangement around a 16th century Andalucian folk song.

"Atlantis" is my submerged city.
This song was born from a year of silence, mourning and scars. It is dedicated to my father death one year ago, my first guide, my first sound. As a child, I watched him listen to The Shadows, immersed in a world that I didn't understand then, but that keeps me alive today.

The artwork represents that child — me — suspended between absence and memory. The shadows of the guitars are the remains of what has been, yet they still vibrate, as if somewhere they were still playing for him.

"Atlantis" is not just a song: it is my way of going down into the depths, among the ruins, and bringing what remains to the surface.
