With nearly a decade of tracks marking his discography, the Beatroots sound has evolved alongside the evolving science of sound design and engineering fundamentals, making the project a veritable waypoint for the many congruent paths of electronic music. With that dynamic in mind, The Rust is incredibly excited to host the release of his latest LP, Reset Remedy.

Bridging all gaps between intense and pensive compositions, Reset Remedy is an expansive, meticulous expression of minimalism and instrumental interplay; few moments in any track involve a plethora of tones, utilizing the call and response between select textures and timbres. Where one synthesizer ends, another begins with choice overlap, giving an otherwise minimalist approach a very maximalist impact. Juggling a mixture of eclectic trip-hop, drum and bass, and downtempo rhythms, the album sets itself apart from the pack through its elaborative and evolving songwriting in both steady-beat and broken-beat motifs. For fans of provocative and expressive electronic music, Beatroots’ Reset Remedy has you covered across a wide and satisfying swath of sonic territory.

“Under trees and over mountains. Those are the places I want to be reflected in my music.” Patrick Cunningham began the Woadus project with the vision of bringing a natural element to the world of electronic music. Drawing inspiration from folk and world music of all cultures, Woadus evokes a style committed to reconnecting with the earth through music. Channeling the beauty, the power, the provision, and the indifference of our planet and giving it a sound.

Woadus will often venture out into nature to collect audio recordings for his music. “All through history, events of cultural and spiritual importance have taken place out in the wilderness. Deep in a forest, atop the peaks of mountains, on the coast of oceans. There is a power in these places that I try to capture.”

With years of experience playing at several Edmonton venues, releases on DoYu Digital and NVMA Records, several guest features on sub.fm radio as well as CJSW radio’s “What Will the Neighbours Think”, Woadus is now focusing on releasing his debut EP as well as breaking into the western Canada festival scene.

Sundog is a producer who spins a selection of bass-focused beats with tasteful percussion. The music he shares is infused with influences of old school hip-hop and instrumental jazz, combined with forward thinking bass music. A proper blend of hard hitting beats with an organic lively feel.

Trickles was inspired by the trifecta of friendship between Daniel (Arcturus), Grant (Prezence), and Amanda (Reaya Light).  As winter neared its end, we felt the trickles of spring rolling in, as the trickles of our consciousness flowed in as well.  Everything about this tune came together so easily, as if the song wrote itself!  We adventured throughout time and space to explore our inner worlds together.  The song speaks about sovereignty, dignity, and honor for what has given us the wisdom to create.  Grant and Amanda came together to harness the lyrical expression, after Arcturus laid down the template for the song structure.
