UNDERTALE: STORYSHIFT is a reimagining of Storyshift, set in a post-pacifist timeline of Undertale. Many years after Monsterkind had finally been set free, Alphys suggested to her friends that they all dress up as each other for Halloween, playing off the whole "dressing up as monsters" thing that humans were still prone to doing. A lot of them really seemed to like the idea. So much so, that a certain ghostly, theatrical entertainment robot would be inspired to write a stage play for him and his friends to perform in.

Asgore is meant to represent Alphys. In Mettaton's retelling, Asgore is... certainly going through a lot. His marriage is strained. He hardly has enough time to see his children, let alone take care of them. His business associate, with whom he runs a joint construction/demolition company, has just recently started working again after a terrible incident.

He's trying desperately to make everything work, to keep an eye on the people he holds dear, and with every passing moment, he feels them slipping away. And another human child is the last thing he needs to worry about.

* Um! Actually, t-that might be weird to say.
* ...
* (...Okay. If now's n-not the time, then it never WILL be the time...)

* Y-you came through the RUINS, right?
* That means you met the KING.
* ...FORMER king, hehe.
* Asgore Dreemurr.
* He's...
* ...
* I-is... is he doing okay?

* The... the first time I met him...
* It h-had to be YEARS ago.
* He was s-still in command with, um, TORIEL.
* A Royal Guard patrol station was b-being built in Snowdin,
* Er, Snowmelt.
* I was eating at Nice-E's, watching f-from the window,
* The guard was doing t-their routine weapon inspection.
* ...Y-you know, the thing where they f-flip their weapons around...
* And o-only occasionally misfire through s-someone's door.

* Asgore, standing there...
* He l-looked... stoic. Strong. Like... like nothing could move him.
* T-the weird part, though, is when he t-turned around,
* And s-saw me... in the window...
* ...um...
* W-was I gawking at him? Was I, um, that noticeable?
* No matter how he felt, h-he... approached the window...
* ...with a POTTED FLOWER? IN HIS HANDS???
* And he... he LEFT it. L-like, under the window.
* I t-think the royalty have unspoken rules about, um...
* C-conversing with commoners?
* So he didn't say anything... but l-left me a flower?
* ...
* It was a beautiful yellow flower, too...
* ....Kind of like yours, heh!

* ...
* Um! Sorry! I-I didn't mean to go on for s-so long...

* I kept the flower.
* And, u-um...
* Never got to see him again.
