Swardz (aka Jan Boland, Dublin, 1992) is one of the new generation of techno artists. Unafraid to experiment and go against the grain, always searching for originality and fresh ideas, rather then copying the status quo. She will create something powerful, crammed with creativity and originality.

As a producer she is unforgiving, to herself, and with her sounds. Not the type to submit a track that she is even 1% unsure about, and will always take action on said criticism.

Her first techno foray was her self released Antenna’s EP. This caught the attention of the label Variance, who here present her first label release.

PREMIERE: Swardz - Lavender Salad (VAR015)

2017, another year, another variance in musical tastes as per usual. As there is no point in even attempting to keep up with trends or fads, we have decided to just bring you the greatest music we can find, regardless of stature. We have become known as a label that brings the world fresh new artists, and sounds, like no other label does and we are proud to do so, the reaction off our fans is enough to keep us going, we are forever thankful for the incredible support from day 1, through all of our changes, and experiments in the genre we love called techno. Calling to action this time for our 15th release, is the incredible Dubliner, Swardz, this being the artists debut EP on any label, asides from her own Bandcamp releases. Breaking in the broken files EP is the title track "Broken Files" is a homage to the hassle we went through getting this incredible EP together, there were so many tiny problems, but we worked through and brought this incredible EP to you. Second track is the driving "Lavender Salad" this track is good old traditional banging techno with persistent punishing percs, feels like a track from a time past, instant classic for us. Then finishing off the trio of original tracks is the immense "Prescott" the 143 banger is sure to get your blood boiling, the drops, the breaks, this track is perfection in many ways, the creativity throughout this EP is incredible. Last but not least we have a remix from Variance owner Scenedrone, remixing "Broken Files", with a higher tempo at 134 you can feel the intensity from it, quite similar to the original but the arrangement is vastly different, with Scenedrone putting his distinct touch on the mix. All around a really solid EP and something for all Techno aficionados, definitely one to be played for years to come.

To commemorate 3000 likes on the Variance facebook page - www.facebook.com/variancetechno we compiled this amazing free various artists LP/Album. With tracks from 16 artists with a total of 20 productions, this one is massive, not only in size but each track is absolutely amazing, and could do well on any label, never mind simply on a free release. 

Lots of work went into this form all involved, but with 3 years strong support of Variance, we are happy to give back, and all the artists are happy to be involved, from the crew at Variance and every artist involved, thank you for the continued support over the years! 

And on we go to the next 3 years.

Earlier this year OLVR/KCRA graced us with his incredible GHSTS EP, within this EP was the track "CHNGL" as a B-Side, well OLVR/KCRA got together a remix package for CHNGL and we arranged for this remix EP, and the results speak for themselves. Just listen and you will see why. Words are often hard to come by when describing a release, and with this one there is so much variety due to the selection of artists. On board for this one we have, Distra, Duo Alias, Mickey Nox, Swardz, and two new artists to the roster in Inslavement and Thomas K., both of these artists will be featuring on the label in the future, in fact every one of the artists on this EP either already are, or will be featuring heavily on the label. Each remix showcase their abilities with utmost precision on this release, we often say this, and it's always the case, there is something for every techno aficionado on this release. Variety is the spice of life, and we are not called Variance for nothing. We hope you enjoy this release like our others.

Blurred Boy returns to Variance, but this time he is not the creator of the tracks, he is the artist getting remixed in this outstanding LP. We have got variety to boot, from the distorted mayhem of RE_P and Sur+, to the simple yet effective remixes by Scenedrone and Swardz. Distras nine minute acid trip is one to behold, constantly flowing in and out a masterpiece. Thomas K. returns with an almighty bang with his ''Call Of The Warriors'' remix, this guy has just begun watch for hi on Variance in 2018. Gladly to welcome Hakko onto the Variance roster with a timeless remix, industrial distorted broken yet four on the floor the man can defy gravity, a great artist and this track is one to behold. 8277397 returns with an amazing remix of Trust, wicked synth line, banging kick, slower in tempo then the rest of the EP, but there is no lack of intensity, thats for sure. Closing statement is, get this LP, it's got something for everyone, i feel like I say that on each release, but we strive to be Variance. Peace and Techno.

Blurred Boy - Winners - (Swardz Remix)

This holiday season we are delighted to bring you this wonderful EP to commemorate what has been a year most of us would like to forget, but it has also been a very interesting year for techno. Variance saw lots of changes and next year we got an incredible lineup on the cards so far. This various artists EP is just a hint of what is to come in 2018. Firstly we have a really incredible track from the ever present "Blurred Boy", this guys work ethic is insane, he has some wonderful releases coming up and plenty coming on Variance next year, "Not Halfway There" is banging as you get, whilst not pushing the limits, leaving space for a solid synth and pad line with great percs. Then another act that have featured heavily in the last year, and i can tell you now they will not be going anywhere, there sound is ever evolving but distinguishable, and in "Bastard !!!", "Duo Alias" have given us a slight view into what they have in store for 2018, fresh off supporting the man himself Perc, the boys are flying high, and this track will make you fly high. Following is the first release from KRŸST on the label, it has a famous vocal sample in it that any electronic music aficionado will recognise, but it is used with immense effectiveness, the melody, the bass-line, the thumping kick, the percussion, subtle yet effective, this track is an instant classic, it encompasses trance elements, with some nice acid lines, and an immensely effective stab, a track you will never get bored of, if its your thing of course, but I am sure you can appreciate the skills used. The fourth edition is from label owner Scenedrone, no stranger to these EPs, he ha provided something very different to what you may expect but we really hope you enjoy, its a bass heavy electronica/techno track, with some cool progressions and regressions, ideal to mix through or play early on in your set, that being said I have mixed it pitched up, and it does work.
Last but not least, in fact one of the highlights of the EP, and I love all the tracks, but I have been wanting to get the "Swardz" track "evening Bitches" out for over a year now, and here it is in all its glory words cannot describe what this will do to the floor, do NOT fuck with Swardz.

For the labels 37th release we welcome Nick Elia and Ly Sas for a joint EP, eight tracks of techno, and two ambient tracks by Nick Elia as intro and outro. Technowise we have, four originals and four remixes, remixes from Henge, Swardz, Jish, and label head Scenedrone. also, two original ambient/experimental techy tracks from Nick Elia, making it 4 originals from the London based DJ, providing lots of variety and skill in his ability, a true audio aficionado, and his talent is on display here with 4 originals, from the eerie "Ghost In The Machine" & "Living Organism" to the banging originals "Elixir" and "Diversion". Ly Sas has come on board with two immense originals in "Vigilance" and "Agony" two very powerful tracks that are sure to go down well in any set, and on remix duties for her two tracks are Variance regular Henge, and Dublin based Jish has connected with label head Scenedrone to remix the other, first collab between the two, hopefully its not the last, with results like this, they should keep it going. Also on remix duties from Ly Sas is label regular Swardz, and label head Scenedrone with a solo remix. This LP goes all the way from the sub 100 bpm opener, all the way to Swardz 144 banger, and everything in between, one that can't be missed, we hope you enjoy this quality release. Keep your eyes on all the artists, and of course the label.

In 2018, Variant Electronic discovered one of the most exciting and diverse acts since our conception, not that we haven't already had some of the most talented producers on board, but The Mark really has left his mark (I had to). Since his album Buried alive he has gone from strength to strength, with an incredible remix of Ethan Fawkes track Evolve from our last EP, Master Fawkes replied the favour with an incredible remix of I'm Lost on this LP, another artist who has helped re-brand Variant, Ethan has just started off on VE. Also on remix duties we have VE Regulars, A Humanoid Individual, DRT, Undying Minds (with his second track on the label), label manager Valerio, Shadowcomplex, and Barcelona based From-Chaos-Kindgdom for his first, and most certainly not last, remix on the label. An a new addition to the roster on this LP is the immense Raul Parra, a fantastic producer and DJ to boot. Also included are two brand new originals by The Mark called Gone and Lust, we decided to add them in as they suit the release, and the album in 2019 is hammed packed with bangers. To Review each track is totally in vein as far as I am concerned, this LP is a proper VE release, all regular acts, asides from Raul Parra, but we can guarantee more from him in the future. Some of the remixed tracks that you do not recognise from Buried Alive are upcoming one The Marks upcoming album in 2019 - Just like the movie Tits too hot to handle.. watch this space, The Mark and VE collab is in its infancy.
