For our next arch podcast, veteran Berlin after-hour selector, sonic experimenter, and contemporary artist Ekaterina Burlyga created a heady sound collage. Think gluey organic textures, fragments of voice, pitched-down dub, broken beats, and future-bass.

A devoted vinyl hoarder with an obscene library of 90s techno, electronica, and drone 12”s lining the walls of her studio, the burgeoning sound artist weaves an eclectic range together in this dubbed-out, synaesthetic mix.

Ahead of our return to our live concert format next week, Arch co-founder Inland returns to our podcast series with a mix of music exclusively from the arch label, both released and forthcoming. Explorative, experimental electronics, dub, electronica and freeform, post-dancefloor trips.

Join us at ELSE next weds, 24th of August for an open-air evening of live music. Irakli, Monty Luke's Mandingo Space Program and Field Kit will all perform live with X tin opening up the sonic landscape in the DJ booth. From 10pm we go inside for a proper dance with Inland and Amanda Mussi all night long!

Timnah Sommerfeld’s signature approach to earthy dance music has been tried, tested and approved by swinging hips all over Europe. Developing her style from age 17 onwards, when she started playing in squats and industrial spaces around Basel, she’s continuously making her mark with warm, reverberating techno cuts from across the spectrum. During her residencies at Hinterhof Bar and nowadays, Elysia, Sommerfeldt’s sets fluently cover (and transcend) shades of electro, techno and house music, establishing her as a firm favorite amongst dancers and peers. Smooth mixing skills, strong emotional narratives and an intuitive understanding of dancefloor dynamics continue to define her style, seamlessly cruising through the small hours of the night.

Beautiful offering for #116 from the depths of France, Javier Salazar (@salazarconnect). I originally discovered their music via a beautiful set at the @monument-podcast festival afterparty on a beautiful farm in Norway. I was completely entranced by their percussive, groovy style. 

Founders of @rdgtribe, they recently put out a beautiful release on the output - somehow both soothing and driving. This mix is a beautiful continuation of that style. Relaxing, hypnotic and bouncy all at once.

Toner was first introduced to underground music while studying abroad in Taiwan, where he was awakened by modern techno.

After returning to Japan, he became captivated by Tokyo’s club and rave scene, and naturally progressed to become involved with numerous events as both a supporter and music journalist.

Together with Toss and Kaana, he now runs "LIMINAL DREAMS”. A community of enthusiasts, deeply focused on electronic, ambient and experimental music. "LIMINAL DREAMS" pays homage to the psychedelic chill-out culture that has been prevalent since the 60’s.

“Recently, I had the opportunity to be surrounded by the beautiful port city of Keelung, Taiwan. It was a very calming and tranquil experience.

During this time, I reflected on a variety of musical experiences in recent years, to explore various sounds for this mix. I wanted to capture the beauty and tranquility of an outdoor music festival and combine it with the beauty of an intimate smoky venue.

I often find beauty in the ephemeral and feel a strong connection between music and the natural world. I hope you can enjoy this mix as a session that transcends time and space between great musicians.

For Patterns of Perception 112, we're very excited to welcome back @kondukukonduku - a truly stellar all-round talent and dear friend of our collective. 

Four whole years have passed since we last featured Konduku in our mix series. In this time, he has reached new creative heights, adding textures, shades and vibrancy to his distinctive sound - in the process finding homes for highly touted releases on the likes of @spaziodisponibile, Mantis (via @delsinrecords), @nousklaeraudio, @amenthia-recordings (with @aasudd) and most recently @djnobu_bitta's Bitta.

As a DJ, his creativity and skills are similarly vaunted, and see him regularly take the stage at key festivals, venues and events across Europe and Asia. 

Recorded live at Patterns of Perception @ OHM Berlin on Apr 21, 2023, Konduku's Patterns of Perception 112 is a showcase of his thrilling abilities behind the decks. Unpredictable yet totally engrossing, this set is a profound tale of tension and release. Tightly wound grooves and eerie psychedelia leading us unerringly to ecstasy. A fine balance of intuition, control and spirit from a visionary artist in full-flight.

Patterns of Perception 112 - Konduku

Samuel van Dijk a.k.a. VC-118A’s achingly beautiful melancholic moods and roomy, absorbing grooves have distinguished him as one of the Netherlands’ most compelling talents.

With releases on @delsinrecords, @frustratedfunk, @tabernacle-records, @astralindustries and @silent-season, van Dijk’s productions play with contrasting textures and moods to construct distinctive soundscapes fusing elements of electro, techno, dub, and ambient. His thrilling, immersive performances at Tresor and Griessmuehle (Berlin), Fuse (Brussels), Concrete (Paris) and Trouw (Amsterdam), as well as festivals such as @parallelfestival under his numerous aliases (VC-118A, Mohlao, @multicastdynamics) have further cemented his status as a master craftsman, his unique sound eluding classification.

Van Dijk’s Patterns of Perception 63 sees him strip the VC-118A sound back to the essentials, blending contrasting elements in a science-fiction inspired exploration of abstract worlds, decompression, and escape. This stark, intricately-realised and captivating ambient-focused selection takes the listener to distant, eerily familiar and hauntingly beautiful places.

Patterns of Perception 63 - VC-118A

In my opinion, @tammohesselink is one of the most interesting DJs/ producers in the Netherlands. The @nousklaeraudio mainstay has put out a string of successful releases over the last few years, gracefully cementing his place in the European scene with a flawless DJ'ing technique, resourceful digging, and creative set-building style. His mixes always ooze an animated yet tastefully refined vibe, and i'm very happy to host the newest one here..almost two hours of bendy minimal bangers & trippy broken beats.
