While assembling mix these last few weeks and thinking about the direction I wanted it go, I noticed that elderflower had been popping up in various points in my life. Elderflower is one of my favorite words...it's oxymoronic with the sophistication and experience of an elder contrasted by the youth of a flower in bloom. The taste itself is worth mentioning, which is delicate and sweet in nature…I tried to capture all these things in this mix, sophistication, spirit, delicacy, and sweetness, and I hope that came through. Hope you like it.

First of all, if you are in the picture dancing to my set in 100+ degree heat, you rock!  At a party with so much so offer as far as relaxation - hot tubs, cool pools, waterfalls - to have such a great dance floor in mid-afternoon was extremely flattering to me!  Folks if you were not there please don't be fooled by the shade - it was blazing hot so matter where you stood - or danced - at this party in the afternoon.

Second, thanks to the organizers for putting forth the energy to put on a truly unique event.  It's a big risk to do so but the rewards are great - people will be talking about this party all the way to next year, when it sells out for sure!  Unbelievable goodness awaits those who risk a 2 hour dirt road to get 33 miles into Guadalupe and find there - an Oasis, literally.  Palm trees, water everywhere, in the middle of the desert.  Kudos!

Last, please enjoy this set!  I call it 'desert house' as it's not the sort of house you hear in clubs overall, but has a more trippy and outdoor feel that really makes sense in the desert.  It's a bit slow for me, 122-123bpm, on account of the heat and time of the set.  If you like it, please favorite it - will take you one second! This is a 2.5 hour set from 2-4:30AM at a comfy warehouse party in Los Angeles Saturday april 6th, 2013 . The promoter digs a lot of progressive techno and house so I played some progressive music, although throughout the 2.5 hours I played some styles with big influences from House, Tech house, psychedelic techno, breaks. These are many of my absolute favorite tracks. I was using a number of effects that I would consider very unique. This was not a "live" set although I did play 6 of my tracks. Luke Mandala live at Intuitive Transitions (Los Angeles) 4.6.2013

Dynamism....from a metaphysical perspective, it's the belief that the nature of every substance contains an expression of the universe. As an artistic movement, dynamism is the capture of an objects motion - both intrinsic and relative to its environment. To me, Dynamism is the push and pull of intensity and energy.

I consider this mix one of my more ambitious efforts, aiming to work through strong swings of intensity, melody, and motion while still staying on some semblance of a cogent course. I find that this is a mix that I enjoy the more I listen to it, which usually isn't the case. I hope it resonates with you as much as it does for me.
