3 QUESTIONS to CAPTAIN MUSTACHE:

Q: How did you get infected with Electronic Music?

A: From an early age, I was fascinated by the synthesizers of Jean-Michel Jarre, then the global Dance music. But everything really started when I heard "Phosphene" by Drax (Thomas P. Heckmann) on MTV, a night in 1994. It was a mix by Laurent Garnier with psychedelic visuals by V-Form from a VHS called "Afters". I was 13. At that specific moment, I fell in love with Techno music.

Q: Would you still play and mix some of these classics in your sets?

A: Of course. "Davina - Don't You Want It" produced by Mad Mike from Underground Resistance is probably my all-time favorite track. And I just released a song with her in my "Indigo Memories" album on John Digweed's label Bedrock, that's insane. "Jupiter Jazz" is also timeless on a dancefloor. I often play the Dexter remix of "Emerge", crazy good production. And also "ADULT. - Hand To Phone", the emotion is still intact.

Q: Which future CM projects are on the way - so: What can we expect from you next?

A: I have a lot of releases coming, a total of 14 in 2022.
- Now an EP of my album "Indigo Memories" remixed by Kiko, Zoo Brazil, Marc DePulse and speaKwave (aka dynArec)
- then a remix on Australian label Motorik
- a 12" release featuring The Advent on Les Yeux Orange, with remixes by DMX Krew and Legowelt
- a track on Marc Romboy's label Systematic
- a release with Popof on label Exploited
- a remix on Correspondant in collab with Jennifer Cardini
And in 2023, a full LP on a great big label.

"The artist formerly known as The Kid Inside, AKIVA is a melodic house and techno producer/DJ/live act based in Los Angeles producing and curating music inspired by the progressive house scene of the early 2000s. Topping Beatport charts with music on U.K. underground labels Deepdowndirty and Gibbon Records and the progressive U.K. powerhouse, Pro B Tech Records. Resident on Saturo Sounds with a monthly radio and podcast series, and Identity Presents - the premier LA-based event curator, hosting and playing with Modus, Galestian, Cid Inc, Miyagi, and Dave Seaman.
2021 saw Akiva assume the role of A&R for the Saturo Sounds label imprint, releasing the "Sounds of Saturo, Vol. 2" compilation. Charting at #7 in the Melodic House and Techno, #4 in both Progressive and Organic House, #1 in Breaks, and number #4 Overall charts. Closing out the year with the #1 Progressive House release thereafter.
Akiva started his journey through music with Jaco Pastorius. The rhythmically diverse and bass-driven fusion style, presented to him by his father and uncle's jazz records, prompted his purchase of an Ibanez bass guitar. Along with jazz, he developed a love of smooth tenor and alto saxophones and string sounds of the violin and viola through his love of classical music. While he was jamming out to heavy metal and classic rock in high school, Akiva discovered electronic music on NYC's KTU station. Akiva immediately started playing progressive and goa-psytrance songs with his friends at parties. House and techno music were still considered underground at that time. As the scene grew, both in NYC and abroad, he spent waking hours adding to his music collection and refining his production skills. Akiva brings passion from all of his beloved musical genres, world music, and the classical inspirations of old school techno and house, focusing on the ethereal and deep techno melodies found across the world today"

Realizing that nothing can be taken for granted, the volatility of the situation motivates him to persevere. “Music helps many people in Ukraine cope right now”, he says. “But some people here also feel guilty about listening to or making music at the moment” But music works like a cure for me. It helps in the same way that meditation or physical exercise can help.'
