JUNKIE DRIVES is out now! My Masters' thesis about a Lacanian psychoanalysis of drug consumption, written in accessible language, for clinical or personal use, looks at what non-normativing psychoanalysis can teach us about the enjoyment of drugs, the human struggle with pleasure, and what it might mean to live well with drugs, meaning, self-determined, desirous, and multi-faceted lives where we don’t hand over more agency to drugs than we’d like to. Skankstasy (aka Wanda Gaimes) is a long-time member of the Berlin undercommons, known as a tireless rave agitator for @lllecken, the queer-feminist party series she co-founded in 2016, writer, curator, and more recently, DJ. Skankstasy is moved by everything that grooves, from grime to juke groove, as we see on this mix she's prepared for us. 

Raised in a post-socialist country starved for Western cultural goods, where every mixed tape had to be cherished like a treasure, she grew up in a household that listened to funk, soul and blues. Later, when she emigrated, her heart started beating for trip hop, hip hop and dub and only started raving to 4-to-the-floor beats much later in life. Behind the decks (or on the radio waves), Skankstasy likes to surf the sweet spot between different rhythms and grooves with an ambition to conjure "a future queer skank floor" and a deep appreciation for the diasporic roots of dance music. To sample some of her versatile range, you can also head to her Refuge Worldwide residency show, Skankstasy Hour.
