Our second release of 2020 and it's five tracks of warmth, depth and party-starting realness from the land of the Danes.
'Ari' is the house and techno alias of the Copenhagen producer and DJ known as Fat Pony. This year he has a few releases primed under both aliases - firstly as 'Ari' with us (No Guestlist 2 Nite - 0G2N), with Fat Pony numbers on MOAG and SVR.
For this debut EP, first up we have 'The Island', a mysterious bounce-inducing roller in the vein of Solomun if he was into 60s B-movies. Next up we have 'Lost' - a deeper more optimistic cut than the title suggests, all warm pads and arps, reminiscent of Daniel Wang. The soundtrack of a Danish flaneur in summertime Tokyo perhaps?
On the flipside 'Ari' enlists Danish producer 'Lundberg'. From the rhythm riding fire of 'Forget It' to the edgy stabs of Copenhagen at 3am on 'Danish Bounce', the EP closes out with 'Hound' a late night tech-edged house belter.

We are honored to bring you and present the first release of this talented duo of producers from Bavaria. Ascadia consists of two ingenious young musicians based in Munich. Enrico and Marius debute on Cuicacalli Music with "Apollo", a captivating two track EP, full of delightful melodies and pleasing atmospheres.
'Apollo' possesses a very catchy and relaxing melody, accompanied by a consistent and exquisite atmosphere that immediately immerses your mind in a pleasant world of serenity and happiness. It is a unique and inspiring song with a lovely build up, blending an enveloping Synth enriched with some piano accents, which perfectly complements the smooth percussions. It's an anthem to listen to and to enjoy at any time.
'Voyage' it's a little more moved. It is a trip to the unknown universe materializing an exceptional mix of percussions with several harmonic passages. As usual with these skilled guys a pleasing melody and a well present bass complements the track. The constant and changing melodies together with a magnificent atmosphere create the perfect trip.

Mattr aka Matthew Clugston is a leftfield house, breaks, and techno producer from Birmingham, now living in London. With residencies dating back to his hometown at Code with Steve Lawler as well as supporting gigs for Sasha & Danny Tenaglia, Mattr would share decks with the likes of Tale of Us & Jamie Jones before hosting his own events with fellow innovator Alex Banks as well as Maxxi Soundsystem, and XXXY, to name a few. It was from there that he made the move to Berlin to study music production & performance and where he'd form a friendship with label partner, Max Winstanley (Lewyn Stan)who he paired up with to launch their Helical Scan imprint. 

After years honing his sound, Matthew went on to release his first album along with several other productions on Faceless Recordings, TrippyCode, Ozono, and CRR, garnering support from Amé, Guy Gerber, Anja Schneider, Nick Warren, Rodriguez Jr, & the legendary Laurent Garnier.

25 years after first cutting his teeth DJing tech house & breaks, Mattr's broad musical palette often draws him closer to the more emotive side of electronic music, finding deep resonance with forward-thinking artists like Max Cooper, Jon Hopkins, Tourist, Overmono, Fourtet, Phon.O and Radioactive Man, whom you'll hear plenty of in his consistent & beautifully diverse mix series.

We now see the first release on his newly formed Loft & Sound imprint, with focus on fresh sounds within the genres of IDM, electronica, leftfield house, techno and leftfield breaks.

‘SubDivs’ kicks off the EP with dreamy melodic flutters, blissful leads and warm, shimmering low frequencies underneath before ‘Cygnus’ offers up a breaks-tinged cut featuring growling bass notes, syncopated, scatty rhythms and angelic pads that harmonises all under multiple alluring soundscapes ~ perfectly fitting to the origin of its name, being the Milky Way's northern constellation.

Next up, ‘Enterica’ progresses into a euphoric atmospheric cut peppered with deep resonations and alleviating melodies until the bright, experimental house track ‘Cruzi’ rounds off proceedings with revolving, warped modulations, choppy vocal samples, rattling highs and reverberating kicks, giving it a burst of synth-driven energy throughout.
