Motivation to Praise Him" came into my life at a moment when I was questioning the value of the gifts God had bestowed upon me. I felt lost and uncertain, doubting whether my talents had any purpose. But then, one person saw something in me that I couldnt see in myself. They handed me a melody and, with it, their unwavering belief in my potential.

That faith reignited a fire within me, and I knew that with this first song, I couldnt let them down, nor could I let my grandkids down. All I had to do was Praise HimPraise God for the gifts, the guidance, and the renewed sense of purpose. Through this song, I found my voice again, and more importantly, I found my way back to Him.

'One of these things first' is from Nick Drake's 1971 'Bryter Layter'. A desperate song about dreams of what he could've been in a new musical setting featuring vocalist Georgia Van Etten and Orphy Robinson on marimba and vibraphone.

"I’m a big fan of the brilliant Nick Drake, and was excited to approach one of his songs. ‘One Of These Things First’ has such comforting vamp and I wanted to play with tone and dynamics to enhance the beautiful simplicity of the melody. I was extremely flattered to be asked by the wonderful Orphy to sing on this track, and I hope I’ve done it justice." (Georgia Van Etten, March 2023)

I was one of those new listeners attracted to the album during the pandemic, that had the time to focus intently on Nick Drake’s fantastic music, song craft, admirable creativity and life. 
Since then I’ve been very fortunate to perform the whole album Live a few times and to now to record one of my favourite songs from the album such as “One of these things first”. with Georgia Van Etten and the wonderful Masterlink Sessions musicians, presents a fantastic opportunity to not only record this wonderful song but to also introduce his music to new listeners."
