The debut EP from Romeo Poirier, aka Swim Platførm, SURFACES explores the French composer and sound artist's obsession with water in all its states.

Sleek and meditative, Poirier's electroacoustic collages reveal minutely textured crunches, splooshes and echo-clicks that fuse together to chart aquatic space - undulating between the coastlines of chic seaside resorts and distant, unknown depths.

In this space between darkness and light, we float suspended, delivered into the infinity of our abyssal field of vision.

SURFACES is delivered via four analogue photographs of inspirational planes - saline and chlorinated - captured by Mr. Poirier himself and printed onto handy cartes postales. Now you too can be immersed in Romeo's chic, European lifestyle!

Half-fish half-agate creatures collect debris while others, while floating on pneumatic tyres, glide onto wet surfaces like on bob skates, trying to catch the ones fallen into the water. 
Here we find groups of kids, spazzini cosmici, who with their mineral gloves refract rocks and comets back into the sky.

Object Agency - The Bed is My Office [KR18]

Two times 45 minutes of original music by Cloudface and Powder. All recorded in Tokyo, Japan in early 2016. Brought to you on a C90 cream colored cassette by wichelroede.

We met Cloudface in 2015 at the Rewire Festival in The Hague, and spoke about the idea of working together. We stayed in touch, and in March 2016 the Vancouver artist went to visit Tokyo in search for new equipment and synthesizers. During this trip Cloudface performed a live set at INS Studio, Shibuya, where resident producer Powder (Moko Shibata) joined him during that late evening to play live as well.

Cloudface and Powder teamed up again, now for a wichelroede tape release. The recording of Cloudface’s live set from that special event covers side A (Dogen-zaka refers to the neighborhood where INS is located), while Powder takes on the B-side with previously unreleased tracks, presented here to you as an ongoing mix.

No need to describe how this sounds – If you are looking for exciting new electronic music, this is it! With releases on Mood Hut and Going Good, Cloudface has proven his singular sound within the ever growing electronic landscapes, while Powder can without any doubt be considered as one of the breakthrough artists of this year.

“Dogen-zaka MIX / 88QQ99II11” comes packed with a white cotton tote bag screen printed in four colors designed by Fallon, which is exclusively available with the tape. As always, the tape and goodie are vacuum sealed in a transparent A5 plastic bag.

'ATELIER / FERME' is the debut collaboration between buddies Object Agency and Swim Platførm, as the two combine trumpet, guitar, saxophone and an array of analogue synths on a series sleek, heady instrumentals. 

Recorded in Strasbourg, 'ATELIER' sees pin-sharp found sounds woven amongst cavernous clicks, pops and weirdly synthesised voices to form an addictive, technodelic bricolage. Think Domenique Dumont floating in a sensory deprivation tank, or Joe Hisaishi enjoying a fine wine tasting holiday in Alsace. 

'ALTITUDE 1' is a hypnotic live jam recorded at Swim Platførm's home in Brussels, and features Devon Loch on sax. The 'FERME' sessions of side B, recorded live in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, are all brooding orchestral stabs shot through folds of analogue organ, conjured from a snow-covered cabin. Recommended for fans of To Rococo Rot and Huerco S.

French photographer, musician and lifeguard Roméo Poirier (formerly known as Swim Platførm) appears for his debut album, Plage Arrière, a deep sea meditation on a constellation of Greek beaches across three islands. Trumpets, echo-clicks and Harold Budd-esque shimmer piano whirl together on these seductive scapes, which recall the sub-aqeaous ambitions of Jürgen Müller or Sebastian Palomar. 

'Atsipades' is a keepsake from the song's namesake beach, on western Crete. Roméo writes, 'on the back of a boat, leaving an island. We can see a pool, but that is empty and covered by a net. People looking into distance. A man walks across the platform, hand moving towards his mouth. Maybe he is drinking a café frappé. During his time on the island he was drinking it every day. Now, on the journey back home, that café frappé represents a souvenir of the beach. In it there is water (sea), coffee (sand) and ice cubes (rocks).' 

Plage Arrière will be out soon on Kit, in the form of a limited tape, with risograph printed artwork by Roméo.
