Asian percussion and UK bass-heavy sounds, Darama.

He returns with a 5-track EP filled with melodic south Asian strings, playful synths and dark UK bass tones layered with rolling UK Funky style drums. The release comes with a bonus remix from K. Monday (FKA King Monday) delivering a heavy flip of Avanti.

“This EP is a continuation of the themes found on the first but amped up and refined with new inspiration and influences I’ve found over the past couple of years! I wanted to make my sound a little darker but also cement what I feel like has become my signature since the first release so I hope this does it justice. DJ and producer, DARIIOFOX, hailing from Quinta do Mocho in Lisbon, is known for his infectious beats and electrifying performances that keep the crowd on their feet all night long. DARIIOFOX has quickly made a name for himself in the Batida and Tarraxo music scene. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres and from his brother DJ Nervoso, the originator.

This EP titled ‘Di Ghetto’ pays homage to the scene’s “materia prima”, the original ‘DJs Di Guetto’ Vol.1 which was released back in 2007.

With maximum respect for Nervoso's inspiring (and fiery) path, DARIIOFOX’s 6-track project perfectly captures the new forms & mutations that the ‘Ghetto’ sound has evolved to be. A sound that not only resonates with the new generation but one that feels nostalgic to the old heads.

Raw, uncompromising & respectful are ways to describe this project as DARIIOFOX seeks to showcase the diversity of his productions via 2 solo tracks & 4 collaborations with Ninja, Dadifox, Nervoso & DJ Romão.

Here's a short, but sweet new mix from myself that originally aired on the Annie Nightingale show on April 12th. 

On this mix, I wanted to spotlight some up and coming producers, as well as satisfy my own need to change things up here and there. I think this mix changes tempo 5 or 6 times in 30 minutes and it goes through all sorts of styles and sub-genres. Trap, Moombahton, House and just flat-out cool and weird music.

Bro Safari - Annie Nightingale Mix BBC [Free Download]

Solid Steel (19th April) This week we begin with DJ Irk's brand new 'Let Battle Commence' mix, which starts out with a scratch sequence featuring the 'Solid Steel' sample from classic 80s film The Running Man. We then move on to some hard-hitting electronic hip hop from Two Fingers, Doshy and DZA, followed by some smoother bass grooves from Livingstone, Yan Zombie and Reso, before closing out with some double-time beats from Jubei and Fourward.
The Disablists take over the decks with a mix that has the 4 x UK DMC champions cutting up Kidkanevil, Gangstarr and MOP over Roots Manuva's 'Witness the Fitness' before switching to the excellent Slugabed remix. Dead Prez drops in over Hudson Mohawke, plus music from Machinedrum, Jay Majik and the Philip D Kick re-edit of Adam F, before taking it back with an old school selection via Dizzee Rascal, which sets up nicely for Hour 2.
