Ambient Awakening

Here is the recording from my Micro Jaxon alias set from Esoteric Festival 2023
I played at 8:30 in the morning on Sunday. There were very few attendees to begin with (was absolutely ok though). 
It completely filled my heart right up seeing a small gander of beautiful friends that came to get there ears tendered too. 

Upon the first mix, I found myself delving into my special 'breaking the barriers' headspace, 
I so often find myself in. 
I could really feel into the experimental sound collage dynamic flow...

In this mix, there is a style of mixing quite coherent in the sound.
I call it 'gut instinct, devine cosmic timing, sound art blends' purposely in a collaging state, mixing different tempos together, ripe with an array of effects to marry unexpected contrasts in a full spectrum audio archive analysis.

N3BULA is the project of Mulubinba/Newcastle local, Natalie Cousins. Growing up on a steady diet of dubstep, techno and house music, she seeks inspiration from the special moments past and present that she’s spent immersed in the dance floor. N3BULA has been on support duties for Australian and international talent such as DJ Spit, Reptant, Solar Suite, DJ Scorpion, Human Movement, Eastern Distributor & Loïcc. She is best known for thoughtfully amalgamating blends of techno, electro, breaks and bass focused sounds and curating energy levels to fit the space and time.

"Inside you’ll find a whole bunch of sounds I’ve been digging lately. The aim was to weave through a range of my favourite heavy hitting sounds to get your head and body moving."

The Brisbane bass massive have risen to the challenge of remixing soundcloud.com/subsetdubs with the Recoded EP seamlessly sliding from squelchy subs and downtempo roots to dub techno.

Stepping up on remix duties are soundcloud.com/primary_colours_music' soundcloud.com/echoinspectors, Golden Orb's soundcloud.com/integer-dub and a trio of Kingfisha members: soundcloud.com/drewidub, soundcloud.com/nightjah and Echo Dex. They bring their formidable wealth of bass knowledge to SUBSET's hefty catalogue, tackling tracks from EPs released over the last seven years.

Drew Id has supercharged "Space Re-Echoed"s shuffle with a gnarly bass, while Nightjah has given the the lilting "Dub Spectrometry" a deep and spacious treatment. Integer (known in D'n'B circles as Operon) locks up "Dub Cell" in a gritty sub-driven groove, Echo Dex drops horns and fruity flavours on the spaceyness of "The Astrogator", while Echo Inspectors double down on "Decoded"'s deep-tech vibes.

Recoded is the first collection of SUBSET remixes to be released, and, having been a prolific remixer himself, it's time for him to be on the receiving end of musical reinvention.

"Recoded's rich sonic tapestry was created by an exceptional roster of local remixers and remixes, bringing together many forms and flavours of dub, and is a release I'm proud to have out there rattling sound systems' bass bins".

With its captivating fusion of genres and the unmistakable imprint of Brisbane's bass culture, "Recoded" represents the flourishing state of the city's music scene.

SUBSET - Dub Spectrometry (Nightjah Remix)(preview)

Moontribe Full Moon Gathering, May 2012. Aka Super Moon, as the moon apppeared 14% larger in the sky. It also happened to be my birthday. I couldn't imagine a better way to spend it.

I closed out the gathering with this long (2.5 hr) set. I had a grip of new & different material to work with, so it's a bit edgier in places than my typical sets, but it's one of my favorite DJ experiences ever.

Mastering done with mastery, as usual, by Brian Saitzyk.

Hailing from the depths of the Pacific, Swisherman has since adapted to life as a land based animal whilst not forgetting his roots below sea level. 

For the last 10 years, Swisherman has provided the vibe at a variety of warehouse parties, abandoned spaces, dusty dancefloors & the occasional legitimate venue in & around Sydney, Australia, as well as recent overseas gigs in Japan & New Zealand. No stranger to outdoor festivals, Swisherman has also brought his unique blend of deep, minimal & meditative dance music to Dragon Dreaming, Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Earth Frequency, Subsonic, Psyfari, Armada, Art Valley, Zenith Gathering, Origins Of Entropy, & many more. 

Swisherman is a core member of DUNJ, a crew who throw parties in abandoned and unused spaces around Sydney. This is where he gets to show off the deeper and darker side of his music collection.
Swisherman is also one half of Mood Support, a project focusing on the more downtempo and experimental music collections that exist away from the dancefloor. Swisherman is also an Audio Engineer by trade - so he knows a thing or two about making sounds sound as good as they need to be for maximum enjoyment and auditory absorption.

Swisherman is inspired by misty mornings, home built sound systems and plants that grow in the gutter. His DJ sets explore the more deep, minimal and meditative side of the electronic music spectrum. With an emphasis on low frequency vibrations, Swisherman will envelope your mind, body & soul...
