The constantly evolving Ellum Audio imprint welcomes German techno duo Switchbox and the irresistibly groovy Pirates Poetry to the label. Label head MaceoPlex and wonder boy Danny Daze join forces as Jupiter Jazz to deliver a stellar remix, with a Switchbox remix of dreamAwakens 8 Bit In A Bit and a Random Factor Remix! The original Pirates Poetry ticks all the boxes of an Ellum Audio classic, perfect for the big room at peak time with full fat squelchy basslines, seductive grooves and trippy FX. The sensual yet hypnotic vocal from NAtz sits seamlessly within the track to add to that all-important dancefloor trip. Over on the B-side Maceo Plex and Danny Daze aka Jupiter Jazz step up to deliver a solid, heavy-duty remix filled with sonic acid naughtiness and pacey percussions set to cause mayhem on the dance floor. With two industry heavy weights such as these combining forces theres no doubt they are set to do some series damage. Switchbox deliver a knock out remix of 8 Bit In A Bit by Marcelo Storino Mortimer aka dreamAwaken. This deep and dark dance floor monster is equipped with rumbling synths and a powerful low end, deep and driving with an epic breakdown, perfect for the late night ravers. Finbally there is a great Random Factor remix of 'Pirates Poetry which is killer! Götz Bökler and Nik Bohn aka Switchbox have been making music and preforming together since the late 90s but also work individually as Goetzlich and Nuke. Having spent some years exploring different genres in other projects, the pair have found the way back to their roots with the re-launch of Switchbox, giving them a new lust to once again explore the techy way of the electronic universe. Since their first release on Sprout Music, Switchbox has received international support by some hugely respected artists like Jamie Stevens, Meat Katie, Dubfire, Sharam, Dr Motte and D-nox and are currently preparing a live act to tour with, as well as working on new tracks for their first album. This latest release is undoubtedly the perfect addition to the Ellum Audio catalogue.

Switchbox - Pirates Poetry

Switchbox started with two friends and their passion for analogue equipment and techno. The story begins with the building of their studio, where they started experimenting in music production back in the 90’s, leading to the next step for them, which was to take a whole bunch of hardware equipment from their studio to perform live sets at parties around Germany. This is when they started to be known on the local German techno scene as Switchbox. 

After spending time exploring production also in different genres and in other projects, the guys found their way back to their techno roots and gave themselves a new burst of Switchbox energy in the studio, giving them a new lust to once again explore the techy way of the electronic universe. After being occupied in the studio for which turned into years, of producing and sharing their music directly to the dance floor, it was time to put energy into making tracks which were more refined and accessible for record label release. 

2013 highlighted Switchbox’s productions, when Maceo Plex picked up on a remix they had made for their good friend of theirs, DreamAwaken. They were then requested by Ellum to write an original track to go with the remix, to be released on Ellum Audio, the EP now known as ‘Pirates Poetry’ which came out as a vinyl release, along with remixes by Jupiter Jazz and Random Factor. 

But in 2014 the Switchbox studio split in two. This lead to the decision that Götz, would start to play his DJ sets under the name of Switchbox (formerly using the name Götzlich) which gave him the opportunity to keep the Switchbox name on lips of the techno dance floor lovers and hence keeping the Switchbox persona alive. So 2017 was another landing mark for Switchbox, as Götz released his first productions written and produced solely. Releases have followed on labels including Something Different, Lowbit, Sprout, Flow,and Lowering the Tone. With the latest release will be back on Sprout Music and upcoming one on Frankey & Sandrino´s Sum over histories label.
