I thought “just my luck” as I rushed out the door this past Monday for a photo shoot with Nick Lozoya ( tag ) but it couldn’t of been better timing for this song. Having those few days in Miami to myself was not just amazing but necessary for that next level of growth. Its funny cuz I haven’t been to the beach since 2015 during my birthday month ( November ), very shortly after I wrote my first rhyme that was any good. That summer , 2015 changed everything for me. One of my best friends/brothers, Greg Zelmer passed away , June 9th I believe.  I had lost a few schoolmates up until then but nothing like this.  It was the strangest / saddest feeling . I could literally feel deaths presence around me. It stayed that way for a couple of weeks. I didn’t cope very well with it. Then , I met a girl *cue eye rolls*. I had never gravitated towards anything like her in my life . I damn sure wasn’t in a place mentally to start a relationship but the way we met, the timing and how it all came together was just too much of a coincidence. Then I finally felt it , My brother left behind the gift of love ( or whatever my perspective of what love was at that time) I was so thankful.  I hadn’t been that happy but grateful to just be alive , ever I think. What I didn’t see coming was that gift disappearing only after a few short months lived. I had no will left , I’ve been broken up with, cheated on, blah blah but nothing compared to this. ..maybe because it was a feeling attached to Greg’s passing. Slowly killing myself over the next couple of months I decided instead of abusing unhealthy vices I was going to run. Just fucking run. I felt like I could run around the world if I needed to. J coles 2014 Forest hill drive was on repeat the whole run. I couldn’t get one of the beats out of my head tho after . Drove me to the point to look up the instrumental on YouTube ,  ( Nobody’s perfect) and then it all came pouring out,  it’s like I had finally broken the fucking wall in my head and now had  a lifetime of shit to catch up and write about. The rest is history.  I decided it’s this or nothing. So to conclude , me revisiting the same waters I saw and felt 5 years ago was something my soul desperately needed. Every song I’ve released thus far was written between fall of 2015-2018. I finally got my shit together last year and bought my own recording gear.Now I’m not anywhere near finished writing stories from the past but I’ve waited for this feeling for so long , to just have a song idea, write , record , mix/master it right then and there , here in my home . Sooo introducing 2020 S. Wes.  Lol , I started this song Tuesday and just finished mastering it last night. Hope you enjoy, and if you do, give my page a follow to  see what happens next 😎
