"Honest Allies" is an independent collective of relational art between Spain and Mexico founded in 2020 by Lebollet, Fuentes Guerra, and Rootian. We foster dialogue across disciplines such as music, installation, and performance. We propose to collaborate without hierarchies among artists and communities, aiming for equality and participation. Our intention is to provide a multidisciplinary space for artistic exploration and expression, supporting cultural projects and fostering connections among people in our community. We perform through relational art events and music takeovers, like this one as a radio show.

Rootian and Fuentes Guerra are long-term friends of over 30 years from Córdoba, Spain.

Fuentes Guerra has lived in Madrid since 2012. He has played in many clubs in the city, such as Siroco, Café Berlín, and Cadavra, and also across the country. His family owned a record shop, Discos Fuentes Guerra, where he used to dig and create his artistic expression. He likes to play between narratives and genres, such as italo, house, disco, and progressive, but also ambient, IDM, or downtempo, finding an energetic and euphoric state of mind.

Rootian is the project of Luis Cobos, a Spanish artist, DJ, and psychologist residing in Mexico City for the past 8 years. He enjoys meditating and diving into the mind through experimental and leftfield, navigating through various rhythms of deconstructed club, moving out from traditional 4x4 narratives, and moving across tempos with influences acid, tribal, dub, ambient or expansive industrial techno. He is an active asset in the restless scene of Mexico City, playing at the main events of the city.

Forever winding and wandering through a musical eclipse of sounds and styles, not knowing when or where we'll land, searching for heat and heights previously unknown and unfound. Guided by familiarity and nourished by discovery this sonic collage treasures the past alongside a modern future they once sought. 

All reflected on a sequence of titles manifesting as a map through a heatwave of present and possible realities. Stepping in through S.O.N.S's 'Landing On The Unknown' moving through Sleep D's 'Sunrise In The Crater' and into Kuniyuki Takahashi's 'You Should Believe' before finally arriving at a tangible crest of our past inspiring present with Sunju Hargun's unique remix of Björk's Jóga.

The title plays with the image of halos – the way they shine, their circular form, and the idea of cycles closing and beginning again. The record is very personal, about a breakup, and it carries both the heaviness of that moment and the angelic, luminous side of what remains."

Premiere: cat can do - Run Aziz Run! [Diffuse Reality]

Deena Abdelwahed has a two way relationship with music: in her early years back home in Tunisia when she programmed nights at Nüba, she was known for introducing the likes of footwork, UK bass and kuduro along side experimental house and techno to the local scene. Meanwhile, her own music on labels like InFine has introduced European audiences to bass and techno with plenty of fascinating Arab influences.  This was best showcased on her Khonnar album late last year, which came with plenty of inventive rhythms, weird sound designs and generally challenging musical ideas. 

Abdelwahed’s mix for us comes ahead of her performance at Dekmantel Festival in August and showcases her ability to twist basslines and layer in spiritual ambiance to absorbing effect. It manages to be punchy and physical yet thoughtful throughout, and also comes with plenty of the Arab influences - vocals, instrumentation, rhythms -  that make her work so standout.

Dani Whylie has supported Krystal Klear , George Fitzgerald and the techno heavy weight Daniel Avery.
