The next instalment of our monthly mix series comes from friend of the label, SlowRolla. Having previously released "Clouds" as part of our Footwork Files EP, he returns with an hour-long mix that delves deep into the fast-paced world of footwork and juke.

Originating from Chicago’s South Side in the late '90s, footwork is an evolution of ghetto house and juke, characterized by its frenetic 160 BPM tempo, chopped vocal loops, skittish drum patterns, and syncopated rhythms. Designed as both a musical and dance-driven form of expression, footwork pushes the boundaries of traditional structure, stripping tracks down to raw percussive elements to create space for rapid-fire foot movements on the dancefloor.

SlowRolla’s mix captures the essence of this high-energy genre — blending classic influences and showcasing footwork’s raw minimalism, intensity, and global evolution. It's a journey through one of electronic music’s most innovative and uncompromising underground scenes.
