Where We're At

Irish brothers, SX2, return to Disco Halal with their debut EP ‘Miracle Mayhem’, two tracks dripping in left-field groove. The artists hone an indie-dance aesthetic that’s become so synonymous with the label, but with a psychedelic edge that’s certain to transcend any dancefloor. Whether it’s on the title track, with its ever-changing vocal sample that effortlessly moves between the forefront and background, whilst its occasional manipulation pulls you into a state of frenzy before the inevitable euphoric explosion that soon follows.

On the flip side, ‘Where We’re At’ merges the worlds of acoustic and electronic production, pushing the boundaries of dance music in the process. Driven forward by a guitar led bassline, the listener is soon consumed by a sea of synths that grip on to you and refuse to let go. Residing from Waterford, Ireland, Clive and Scott Sullivan have an affinity with the unknown – inspiration can come from anywhere and such an approach is the backbone behind their music. Their offering in ‘Miracle Mayhem’ displays alternative dance music at its finest. A style championed by long-term Disco Halal family (and fellow brothers) Simple Symmetry and label head Moscoman, as well as listeners who are hot on the pursuit for something new.

SX2 is Waterford, Ireland based duo consisting of brothers Scott & Clive Sullivan.  Relatively new to the scene, and only producing for just about the last 2 years, their years may be few, but their skills are well ahead of the curve. Their DJ sets are heavily influenced by dark and melodic sounds which echoed in their remix of Lost Peoples ‘Forgotten’ track released on Dance Artifakts.

SX2  | Playdate Sessions 032

SX2 is brothers Clive & Scott Sullivan from Waterford, Ireland, who came together for their love of turntablism and sound. Since forming the project in 2017 the journey so far has taken them anywhere from the backrooms of a small pub, to the forefront of some of the biggest dance floors that their home country of Ireland has to offer. 

Their style that blends a “dance floor meets moshpit” sound in both DJ sets and studio productions brings a fresh and unique approach for both themselves and the listener. This caught the attention of Disco Halal label boss Moscoman in 2021 and resulted in the duo joining the label, and finally releasing their first full length EP “Steady Up” in 2023 to great acclaim, with support by some of the industry’s heavy hitters, and getting picked up by the Adidas Spotify editors!

For now, the trip has seen them cover some of the biggest stages both club and festival across Ireland, and support some of the worlds biggest names like Kolsch, Maya Jane Coles, Trikk, Patrice Baumel, and Hammer just to name a few. But the journey is only beginning, and it very may well go anywhere!
