After featuring on our recent twentieth-anniversary compilation, we are delighted to welcome back Mexican DJ, audio sculptor and Controlla label head-honcho Pvlomo to Darkroom Dubs, who guides us through a rich, sonic escapade deep into his metaphysical realm of frequency vibration.

A commanding kick drum and a luscious, pulsating bass tone lay the foundations for Infraworld - a voyage through a multiverse of celestial soundscapes. A relentless vortex of hypnotising synths surge and recede, propelling you through a prismatic wormhole rich with electronic sounds and textures, leaving you captivated and spellbound.

Fellow Mexican and rising electronic music star Jorge Melgar, aka Badwolf, is on remix duties for Ritmo Son, with an atmospheric reinterpretation of the original. A deep pounding kick and dense resonances keep you focused through a murky landscape, eventually unveiling a clearing awash with shimmering, reverberant voices. Then, intoxicating voices evoke the sensation that you are effortlessly floating on a bottomless silvery lake before they suddenly dissipate and plunge you back into the depths of the darkness.

The same hypnotic and disorienting voices orbit around your head in the original mix of Ritmo Son, engulfing you in auditory disarray. This time, glitchy, crunchy, slightly off-kilter percussion provides the only sound to anchor yourself amidst the whirlwind of whispers. A precise and forceful bass and a gritty, gravelly acid line give the track a raw, unbridled power, perfect for late-night action on a smoky dancefloor bathed only in strobe lights.

Deep, acidic and psychedelic, yet with a techno edginess - this release will only enhance Pvlomo's growing reputation within electronic music.

Mexican label Kyma Komplex welcomes emerging artist Oto Veltauri, with his debut LP, "Dark Celebration”. a solid, electrifying journey. Influenced by the experimental works of Georgian composer Natela Svanidze and her groundbreaking piece "Epitaphium" (1974), Oto Veltauri explores into modular synthesis sounds from outside this dimension.

"Dark Celebration" blends musical genres, incorporating elements of lo-fi, acid, dark, and hypnotic vibes to create a powerful and introspective voyage. From the nostalgic sounds of 1980s drums to the pulsating basslines and ethereal samples, each track offers something distinctive and captivating.

Featuring four tracks performed on a vintage Moog Modular synthesizer from the 1960s, "Dark Celebration" showcases Oto Veltauri's evolution as a musician. While the tempo may have slowed compared to previous works, the tracks on this LP are characterized by their voluminous and varied compositions, offering a dynamic listening experience.

Bologna’s Random Numbers unveils the ‘You Are Dreaming! (Remixes) of La Serpiente this June, featuring Elena Colombi, BXP, Big Hands, Front de Cadeaux and Wang Inc. on remix duties.

The Italian Random Numbers imprint has become synonymous with boundary breaking, left of centre sounds since 2014, launched by BXP and White Raven who regularly feature on the label, it also showcases a wide variety of experimental Italian artists and others beyond across the globe. Often embracing the resurgence of the cassette format as well as vinyl and digital. Here the label shines a light on Amsterdam via Milano artist La Serpiente aka Marco Segato who makes a welcome return to the label and has also featured his mystical, post-industrial leaning works on the likes of brokntoys, XCPT, Dionysian Mysteries and Sons Of Traders among others.

Opening this remix package of ‘You Are Dreaming!’ is the acid-laced, slowly unfurling psychedelic original, followed by Front De Cadeaux’ percussive focused rework.

Label co-founder BXP then opens the B-Side, turning in a mind-altering interpretation fuelled by modulating synth whirrs, shuffled drums and bumpy bass hits. 

The ‘Big Hands Remix’ then ups the tempo, embracing a more off-kilter Techno feel employing the originals hypnotic chimes with skippy drums and fluttering resonant licks before Elena Colombi induces a dreamy, trance like state via fluttering bells, haunting voices and elongated bass drones. 

Lastly as a digital bonus, Wang Inc. turns in the final remix, a fourteen minute tribal-tinged journey through organic rhythms, oscillating synth lines and fragments of the original composition.

Resistor is Shunt Voltage’s debut release on Paisley Dark Records although they have appeared on the three Shelter Me complilation albums which raise funds for homelessness. This release comes hot on the heels of major support from Coleen “Cosmo” Murphy, who included their track Generator on her latest Balearic Breakfast album, Volume 3. She has also been giving heavy play to the bands limited vinyl release, To What Degree/Cowboys, which includes an A Space Age Freak Out remix of To What Degree.
Along with the original, the EP boasts with a trio of remixes from Leeds based producers, Cosmikuro who is by now a regular contributer to the label, Paisley Darks very own A Space Age Freak Out, aka label boss John Paynter & Ben lewis and rising stars Adult DVD. Finally, the fourth remix comes courtesty of Swedish producer Mindbender (When Disco Goes Wrong) .
In the words of the band, Resistor came about by trying out some newly programmed synth sounds and FX and mixing with some sequencer ris. This sound clash eventually lled out to a rough demo which the band tinkered around with eventually adding in a few vocal lines. The title continues their electrical theme and has a neat double edge to it.

About:
Host of Granada-based Mordisco Club parties, where the likes of Jennifer Cardini, Red Axes, Fort Romeau, John Talabot and Pional - to name a few - have graced the decks, half of the Spanish DJ
and producer duo Mordisco kicks off his own label. Latido channels a dark disco sound with influences ranging from italo to punk, encapsulating a sound where both synths and guitars feel at home on 4/4 beats. Up to the bat for the inaugural release are a slew of talents ranging from Mexico’s Globemaster, Berlin-based Alejandro Molinari, Tel Aviv’s RINA & Benji and composer Agle. 'Sal Al Club' sets off proceedings with a new wave atmosphere, showcasing Globemaster’s rave influences as well as his sound design chops. 'Crepusculo' dives into the murky side of the dancefloor shadows, accented with a brooding vocal and eerie pads. 'Robbie Kane' contains fragments of an interview of Margot Robbie, as her voice lights up the atmosphere intertwined with spiralling synths and mellow key pads. 'Vacation For You' describes another journey into the deep and cloudy side of the spectrum, alternating between an upbeat lead and the ruminating bassline.

Oberwave is back, peeps! The first release of the year from the Russian Dark Disco Syndicate is the third installment of their acclaimed compilation. M Love, Aura Nox, Corresponsal & Globemaster (SXDNS153) Feat. Born Loco, Mverto Futura, Morze (SXDNS151), Etane, ONDA AVITAL, Javier Ferreira, Diaz Tech (SXDNS089), and GUYD (FREEDL011) did what they know best: Darkness-and-groove infused tracks devoted to triggering emotions and sensations that only the Oberwave-ish trademark sonority (aka cold and macabre music to be danced till your bones break) is capable of.

The track we were solicited to review and premiere – cooked with love and mezcal by rising stars Corresponsal & Globemaster featuring Born Loco on the vocals – was born and raised in Mexico before crossing half of the world and finding its home in Russia. One of the highlights of the release shows its credentials from the very beginning: The almighty and bouncing bassline introduces the theme as if it were saying, “That’s it, I’m a f*cking banger, play me at peak time when it is allowed, cabron!”. The caliente Spanish lyrics help to set the climax and bring a proper amount of Latin mood to the gelid release.
