PREMIERE: Jakob Mäder — Nights At Home (Banali Remix) [Constant Change]

Appearing for the first time on our platform, small and promising Stuttgart-based label Constant Change, run by local hero Jakob Mäder, releases its second installment by Jakob himself: “Remember EP – The Remixes” is the continuation of the story that began to be told in “Remember EP”. The four well-crafted originals received interesting interpretations made with love by Johannes Albert, Brian Ring, Banali, and Markus Phillip, turning the release into a must-have for the fans of high-quality House Music out there.

Markus Phillip, the mastermind behind the remix we were given to premiere/review, whose guilty pleasure for analogue synthesizers manifests in his debut remix of "Nights At Home" (a title that reminds us of the tough times we have been currently living in), brought a little Disco Music, one of his many an influence, to the party. The Munich-based DJ and producer is always up for real Disco, 80s-inspired dance music, and true House, an eclectic artist who cannot resist the good vibes of the golden ol’ times.

Vivod label boss Ali Renault serves up this rather moody ep in memory of his late friend, Pete Mangalore of Human Shield fame. The five tracker kicks off with Northdown Acid, a brooding sprawl with elements of Italo and acid combined to beautiful effect. The amusingly titled Imminent Salad follows with its jacking strut groove, laden with lush pads. Peter Summoning breaks up the ep with its simple ambient suggestion. On the flip things get going again with slo mo stomper Forbidden Mind before title track Nawce Blizzard closes with it’s electro style hypnosis. Finally we’re left with an infinite cat purring locked groove to send you to sleep. Great ep from start to finish. All copies come with a free Peter plectrum and vivod sticker. The first EP - Chomp! Chomp! presents the debut of Golden Mammals - a collaboration between Eric from America and Chittom. Eric is a multi-instrumentalist and electronic producer with a unique style that pulls from a variety of genres. He is also an active drummer for TV Baby (with members of A.R.E. Weapons), as well as several other bands in New York and past projects in Hawaii.
The EP has three original tracks and a remix. "An Hour a Day with You” blends acid house and techno with an obscure leftfield vocal by Chittom. The remix is a dubby techno slow-burner that will work in a variety of settings. On the other side, with two tracks by Eric from America, "At the Met Gala" & "For the Crowd” are two groovy techno-ish tracks with Eric’s unique touches - both are dancefloor and living room friendly. The EP is mixed by Justin Van Der Volgen and Kenji Shimoda, mastered by Rick Essig of REM Sound. Artwork by Dusty Gibbons.
