The interesting Vilnius-based label Electric Shapes is back! Their forthcoming release introduces us to the competent work of Tadan, a skilled lost-and-found-in-London Lithuanian producer who has previously appeared on E.S. in the volume two of its well-received various artists compilation “Unreleased Territory”. This time, he delivers a 10-track piece consisting of seven insightful originals and three tailor-made remixes provided with love and inventiveness by Rambal Cochet, ROTCIV (SXDNS069), and Tassilo Vanhöfen.

Sound has long been known to have deep therapeutic qualities. The main element of healing music is the root sound. The focus on one note brings the listener to the present. It is grounding and can induce a higher state of consciousness. Combine that with dancing and you are now moving the energy, freeing your body from stuck emotions. This is the purpose of Tadan’s “Neoshamanism”.

Every single track, original or remix, has the power of soothing us at this moment of need – and “Sound Is The Source”, the theme we chose to review/premiere, is obviously no different: Its powerful and intense rave atmosphere, provided by a bestial acid layer and incremented with minimalistic vocal hooks and Underworld-like pads, deliver a stalwart and enthusiastic message, something many out there may be in need.

The cauldron bubbles, the pounding of drums resounds; hordes of twilight lurkers are whipped into a frenzy as they gather to dance. Beware, fair traveler! Such experiences are not so easily purged from the lucid gaze of consciousness. Once burned into the mind’s eye and imprinted into the ear’s discerning flesh, your dreams will forever be haunted with everlasting glimpses of that which lurks behind the light. 

Legend has it that an ancient portal to the realm of long-forgotten mythical creatures shall be opened upon the day that this record is played. 

MANA001 by Tadan embarks on a mystical journey of psychedelic and healing trance with a modern twist, crafted in reverence to the goddess Hathor and the protector deity Bes. Hathor, a sky deity who represented music, dance, joy, love, sexuality, and maternal care in her benevolence, was a skilled traveller between worlds, known for accompanying souls into the afterlife. Bes, meanwhile, was famed for his prowess in watching after children, killing snakes, and aiding women in labour by fighting off evil spirits.

Lithuanian duo Far East Flight, formed by Adventure Society & Jokios Kultūros, is back on the eclectic and respected label Electric Shapes, this time presenting the remixes of their namesake album released in August 2021. “FEF RMX” brings a handpicked pure-talent selection of competent artists such as Tassilo Vanhöfen, Rambal Cochet, Kolomensky, Tadan, Anatolian Weapons, Neu Verboten, plus the duo members themselves who creatively decided to reinterpret their own work, just to name a few.

If the originals present a vastly wealthy soundscape, varying from Breakbeat and Downtempo to Goa Trance and Leftfield, the remixes go a little further by inserting other sonorities like, for instance, House and Techno.

Premiered here, Tadan’s version proves the point. The London-based producer decided to bring “Reivaz” to a less trippy and psychedelic realm. Brought to life originally in two Trance versions in the “Far East Flight” EP, the theme now comes wearing a more minimalistic, robust, and energetic attire – definitely dressed to kill!

They'd been travelling for as long as they could remember, on course for an unknown destination. Life had become nomadic, they no longer had a firm base or home, but they'd learnt that this could be wherever they laid their hat. Being tied down didn't suit them, it was adventure and new experiences they were after. Sure enough it didn't matter where their path took them, those unforgettable escapades seemed to always follow suit.

Almost a year ago, Lithuanian imprint Electric Shapes shared the first ever release from Far East Flight. Made up of producers Dovydas Platakis & Gedas Mekšriūnas - AKA Jokios Kultūros and Adventure Society, respectively - the project's debut eponymous EP showcased their love for all things trance, from psychedelic Goa to progressive cosmic rollers and shamanistic psy-trance. Now they're breathing new life into the release with an extensive remix LP that brings together artists who tread similar sonic paths, including the likes of Anatolian Weapons, Rambal Cochet, New Veuboten and our pick from Black Seed, who take the originals into downtempo, psychedelic and off kilter territories.

Even a historical pandemic couldn't take summer hits away from our hearts. Exceptional circumstances means extraordinary compilation.

Worst Records' hall of fame welcomes new faces around the pool for a 13-stages enlightened drama. You'll meet again with the top 3 podium made of A Strange Wedding, Jacques Satre and Christian Coiffure, all rensponsible for our first three releases, building up a mesmerizing, out of season mental workout. Extending the dimension of trance towards Saint-Etienne, Del.Duc brings on a curious yet serene astral travel, and we can also count on the distant reinforcements from the Toulouse Gouffre Club crew with Jan Loup and her glitch spangled hazy dub from far futures and the new trance comer from Bordeaux, Lazuli.
Special friends are also gathering here, as Myako is sewing on thin fabric a vaporous dub in shades of grey, the one-and-only master touki Théo Muller delivers a cinematic remedy to confinement.
