The genre re-defining chameleons of Hard Ton are back on Schrödinger’s Box with their own brand of style-splitting acid house disco. Bigger is Better, a double EP album has all the depravity and drama you would expect from these disruptors. “Be Somebody” is a proud call to a dirty beat; chin up, chest out and let the claps and hi-hats fly. Flanger effect units are pushed to the max in “Trip To Your Mind”, an acid dripping, falsetto bending banger. Rhythms collide and sweat hits the floor in the body jacking “You Want Me” before the new age rave mantra of “Transcend Your Body” with its steepling synth stabs and 303 barbs. The close, “Girls and Boys,” is inspired by a Brit Pop hit. Beefed-up, muscled-up, this club-ready weapon will bring the house down.

Two seasoned French DJs/producers team up in a Parisian studio for a vibrant alliance destined at the more elusive dancefloors - vous avez dit disco noir?
Long-time chums Jerry Bouthier and Julien Plaisir de France met at the beginnings of rave and forged an enduring friendship based on mutual artistic respect as well as a fondness for absurd humour and all things 80s. Both went on to define their own path whilst regularly contemplating working together on a project, alas to no avail. Until recently when, on a whim, they cracked open the champagne in the studio, let the jokes flow and finally got down to it. Created on vintage tools, fat synths and classic drum machines ‘Eccitatissimo’ (the clue is in the name) throws hypnotic basslines, chorus guitars and frantic effects into the mix; a 120 BPM peak-time banger that pushes the right buttons, groovy yet trance-like with spaced-out breakdown. 
Balearic player of the early Parisian rave/house scene (with late brother Tom), long since relocated to London, Jerry Bouthier eventually joined the dots between dancefloor and fashion as he became DJ stalwart of the Kitsuné label/clothing brand (owned by Daft Punk’s manager), touring around the world on the back of his residency at infamous London club BoomBox; whilst simultaneously maturing as diligent sound-designer for the fashion world (Vivienne Westwood etc), a craft - characterising moods - tailor-made for Jerry. Over the years he has created hundreds of soundtracks for the catwalks of London, Paris, Milan, NY and deejayed at the parties of some of fashion’s biggest names, yet still relishes his me time in the studio looking for the perfect beat/melody.
Having learnt the bass in his teens in the aim of joining his mates’ band, Julien Plaisir de France quickly caught the electronic bug, released his first 12”s on seminal Parisian house label Pro-Zak Trax and soon scored a club smash under his Sweet Light moniker with electro monster ‘Abusator’ (championed by 2 Many DJs, Tiga, Ivan Smaghe…). He renamed himself Plaisir de France and became a reference on the edit scene breathing new life in plethora of classics. Julien has just rounded off twenty years of music-making with the release of his debut album '#20’ celebrating timeless French electronic pop with the help of a motley bunch of stand-out vocalists and his own personal gallic twist. Still, true to himself, he remains a generous, eternally enthusiastic dj.
Jerry Bouthier: “We both love the original new wave/post-punk of yore, the sound of NY clubs such as Mud Club, Danceteria etc, when electronic instruments started to infiltrate studios and dancefloors. Futuristic music to dance to - obviously fed by disco - but also packed with attitude and interesting new sounds. A landmark in time… With Julien our musical trajectories crossed again thanks to the current dark disco thump that harps back to that golden era, it was the perfect moment to combine our inspirations and contribute to this scene that keeps on pushing the limits… A good occasion to spend time with Julien who makes you look at life with a smile, priceless!"

Jerry and I go a long way, our friendship has lived through various eras and music styles. We may share an appreciation for bands, our roots I guess. Our initial bond stems from having succumbed early on to the drive of the synthetic beat though. We never fail to value powerful ideas or inspired musicianship, hence the logic of combining our skills - my tendency to let sonic concepts run wild and Jerry’s no nonsense study of what makes bodies move - in order to deliver fresh, effective tracks.”

If there is something we learned from Juan Soto’s forthcoming release on Astrolead Recordings, the proficient retro-infused imprint curated by master Ilya Santana (SXDNS072), is that planets – and galaxies – can malfunction. The Mexican virtuoso pitches his unique and striking theory by presenting his arguments through magnificent synth layers and vocoder-soaked chants, something rather different from his more recent works, either originals or collaborations, published on vital labels such as Boite Music, Espacio Cielo, Spa In Disco, and Astrolead itself, which ratifies Juan’s plural capabilities as a producer.

For his well-constructed and exquisite “Malfunctioning Planet”, he summoned another respected authority on the matter: Manuel Costela contributed with a heavier but equally cosmic interpretation of the hypothesis. The Madrid-based artist put aside his characteristic Disco & House sonority and opened the vault of his darker influences this time to bring to life a fatter and robust take.

Lausanne-born, Berlin-based Pyrame is releasing his new EP, 'Electronica Melancholia', as a dedication to his newborn son. A veritable poet at heart, the physicist turned music and film producer creates raw emotion through his melodies and lyrics inspired by his endless exploration of the world around him. The birth of his son marks his newest source of inspiration as he embarks upon the adventure of parenthood.

The 6-track EP will be released via Pyrame's own label, Thisbe Recordings which is inspired by Greek Mythology for a touch of surrealism, heritage and fantasy. It features 4 original tracks mixing elements of synth-pop, post-disco and progressive electronica, and 2 remixes for 'Oettam is Born' from Arnaud Rebotini and Iñigo Vontier. Javier Celis a.k.a Mverto Futura is a young Guatemalan producer and multi-instrumentalist, who present us the new release of the label, entitled "Denoche Esmejor", a mini album where the journey of this young but great project is reflected, eight exquisite tracks raises the proposal that he has developed to this days, drawing a line between Indie Dance, Nu-Disco and Dark Disco has managed to create a unique sound.

Distorted voices, touches of post-modern acid and Latin electro is a bit of the mix that Mverto Futura has prepared for us, with influences from genres such as Techno, House, & EBM, he creates rich organic bass lines, slick guitar riffs, hypnotic atmospheres, and pretty solid grooves that make this mini album a fine selection for any time of the night.

Crisp, analog drum machines and glistening synthwork are a constant. 
Giordani captivates you with compelling arrangements and considered hints to electro in the likes of ‘Metamorphosis’. Powerful vocals from Fred Ventura and Ready In LED feature on the two alluring singles ‘Mysterious Calls (In The Night)’ and ‘Fase Rem’. Encapsulating, intelligent acid work is heard in ‘Forbidden Pleasures’. Marcello’s clear love for analogue authenticity is at the forefront of this LP. 
Delicately positioned arrangements and intelligent melodic pay offs in tracks like ‘Terza Classe’ are a plenty. A seasoned knowledge and intuition of the nature of the nightclub is apparent with the energy sustained throughout ‘Advanced Process’. A beautiful melt of golden era Italo Disco and Detroit Techno is heard in the sweltering melodic brilliance of ‘Via Mecenate’. 
The title track is an immersive journey preparing you for the final side of the LP. Sizzling keys and pulsating basslines drive this record making it hard to lower the volume. The dazzling, ethereal chimes of the final track ‘Aperitivo In Gracia’ are enticing and filled with picturesque mediterranean imagery. Being no stranger to the inner workings of a packed out dancefloor Marcello Giordani delivers an immense, infectious LP. ‘Advanced Process’ truly lives up to its fitting title.
