This track was made for machine sounds challenge of the project: Opensource

The machine sounds used in the track:
- MRI (the airy noise in the intro plus the percussive sound in the background during the whole track)
- Printer (I took a printing sound and used it as a percussive, harsh melody in the first part and after the melodic part. You also hear the complete sample at the end of the intro before the track opens)
- again printer (this time as a riser)

Machinatio (Opensource 1.5)

They were fast. It was only for a short moment that their bicycles’ light covered the path and the surrounding trees like a veil - then they were swallowed by the dark again. What were they doing in the forest in the middle of the night? As if I was magnetically attracted I followed their way, not knowing where I was going. With every step that I took it drew me deeper into the forest. At this point I didn’t even notice the clicking noises on both sides of the path anymore.
After a while the forest began to thin out and I saw a meadow. The full moon shed it’s light onto the meadow just like a spotlight. That was the moment when I first noticed the music. I just had to follow it’s sound until I could see the lights as well. Alongside the augmenting bass the atmosphere began to change - it wasn’t gloomy or even scary anymore. Now I felt comfortable in this mysterious environment - I didn’t want to be anywhere else.
And then I could see them again: those obscure people who crossed my way in the forest were standing behind a stereo system giving the people what they have been waiting for so desperately: music.

sxllar is a 26 year old sound artist and developer from Darmstadt, Germany, born in the Netherlands and raised in Iran. His sound is influenced by Electro, IDM, Techno, Experimental, Dub and more. He has designed and built his instrument 'santoscope' from recycled material found on the streets of Darmstadt. Its design is inspired by the Persian acoustic instrument Santur, and its sound can be heard in sxllar’s hybrid sets.
