Born on the beautifully wild West Coast of Scotland, but forged in London’s urban heartland, Baronna is an artist that doesn’t just bring both influences from both of those worlds into her music, she brings a decade-spanning wealth that has one foot respectfully in the past but both eyes firmly on the future.

She has spent the best part of 3 decades in the capital watching the life-style of acid house, hardcore and jungle in some of the UK’s now legendary clubs. Although making the decision to step away from music for a while to focus on her young family, she’s firmly back in the driving seat.

Mentored by KRUST, & having her mixes championed by none other than DJ Flight, Data Transmission and House of Hi-Fi, she has also found the time to run a mix series of her own.

Her productions have already caught the attention of tastemakers like Hospital Records, Spacecadet, Symmetry and Overview. She has just returned from Hospitality on the Beach in Albania where she played 5 sets over 4 days as part of the Hospital Records Resident DJ team.

She also has radio residencies on AAJA Music with a late night show every third Wednesday of the month and a monthly show on Goat Shed Music in Bristol.

Born and bred in Brighton, Smasha was raised on drum and bass by her parents listening to labels such as Ram Records and Metalheadz on the way to school. She quickly got a taste for the heavy drums and murky basslines. 

Smasha is a resident raver/DJ at the famous Volks Nightclub in Brighton. With it's reputation as hosting some of the best underground dnb events in the country, it was only a matter of time until Smasha became a regular patron to the mighty Volks. Being a part of such a tight knit and passionate sub-culture is a constant source of sanctuary and it was this sense of community that encouraged her to hone her own craft. 

During the lockdown and whilst living with her DJ/Producer partner, she was able to spend some more time on this love and pick up the headphones. Since then she spends many hours a week buying, collecting, mixing new and older tunes. 

A couple of years on and she’s played in some of her favourite local venues including The Volks Nightclub and Concorde 2 for the likes of Delirium Sessions, Overview Music, Sultry Sounds, Critical Music & Multi Function. Smasha also had a slot on her local pirate radio, Code South. 
 
Expect to hear an hour of minimal, tech, jungle and heavy rolling vibes on this mix.

Closing the second segment of Sydonia's guest mixes we have RACH who brings us this incredible old skool/hardcore jungle mix!

Based in Sheffield but originally from Oxford, Rachel went to her first rave at Roots Club, Oxford in 1993 where she heard jungle techno and jungle for the first time and instantly fell in love with the music. Her teenage years throughout the 90’s were spent raving mainly in Oxford and London with Raging Rabbit at Minchery Farm Country Club (Oxford) and Lazerdrome (Peckham, London) being her favourite haunts.
 
Rachel moved north to Sheffield in 2000 where the music scene was very different. House and techno were dominant in the city and no one shared her love for jungle. Going with the flow, Rachel listened to more of these new sounds and even tried her hand at DJing hard house but this was short lived and she sold her decks about a year later.
 
In 2012, Rachel met her partner, King Chuga, a drum n bass and jungle DJ. Rachel would try to mix jungle at home on vinyl but only really started taking it seriously in 2022 after being heavily influenced by DJ Mantra and Rupture. In 2023, RACH played her first jungle set at the EQ50 networking event at Planet Wax. Since then she has started a monthly radio show, Journey in the Jungle on Radio Free Matlock and is in the process of starting a new jungle community in Sheffield, Unity Underground, with monthly events starting in September.
 
For this mix, RACH takes us back to when she first fell in love with the music, playing the tunes played regularly on Loaf and Don FM.

Stepping up next we have Deekode with a 50/50 split mix of old skool/new skool jungle (including some classics we all know and love!) then in the second half he goes deep into the minimal rolling sound of drum and bass.

Originally raised in the North West of England and now residing in the Midlands, Deekode fell in love with listening to Jungle at a very early age, being initially influenced by the sounds of Photek, Dillinja & Grooverider. As he grew older he discovered the sounds of Skeptical, Mark System, Roy Green & Protone and that’s when he realised becoming a drum and bass DJ & producer was his life goal. He has been perfecting his craft and honing his signature sound of dark steppers whether that be UKG, Dubstep, Drum & Bass or Jungle.

Deekode showcases his skillset by playing multi-genre sets in cities from the likes of Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham and all the way to Croatia at Outlook Festival. More notably as of recent he has released stellar tracks on the likes of The Mob Recordings and on his own imprint, MadWorld Records alongside Jjoda.

Deekode continues his respectable rise in the music game with his forthcoming EP on The Mob Recordings entitled, ‘Lesser Of 2 Evils’ which features one of the best and legendary MC’s the UK has to offer!
