A rap track about the topic girls & shopping for the musical "Belle et Fue", that i produced back in the days for Jazzanova.

The track didn´t make it on the album "Belle et Fue", but it was used in the dance-show itself.

To find a female rapper in Berlin, that could rap in english-language was not an easy thing. But luckily we found Vivian and with some help of ONO (Walking Large) we worked on the lyrics, and in the background you can hear some adlips and choirs by Mrs. Platnum. Thanks to all you guys again.

This was sleeping on my disc for years. It was finished and mixed on the 09/05/2006.

A killer outstanding East German / DDR / GDR Jazz Funk album of the early 70´s, that is maybe the best in it´s genré.
This recording has slept for over 40 years in the shelf and shows the quality and high standard of skills & understanding of jazz in East-Germany, especially in the East-Berlin Jazz scene.
Gruppe SOK is a secret of itself, cause lots of formerly East-Germans remember about this band because of plenty of concerts & the famous youth-radio-station DT64, but are really sad, that there was never a release in these days. But the "Ministerium für Kultur" / Ministry of Culture determined, that there is no culutural demand for such kind of music..... WHAT A MISTAKE !!!

A small finger-exercise, I sometimes do...... Skull Snaps "It´s a new day" fading into Pharcyde´s "runnin´". All instruments are played and original sample material is used, to give it an organic & fluid vibe through. I left out the small complicated horn melody lead-in with this extra note on the one, to make it a lil less complicated and left it in only once, as it was done in the original Skull Snaps track.

The most "spektarcular" discovery of Croatian Jazz Funk recordings from the private archiv of bass-player and producer Davor Rocco, researched by Višeslav Laboš !!
An amazing collaboration of the high-class Beat and Funk musicians of Zagreb´s progressive music-scene from the early 1970s. The members Enco Lesić, Davor Rocco, Dragan Brčić and Neven Frangeš were also performing with Ex-Yugoslavian Jazz and Funk legends like Boško Petrović, Gabi Novak, Drago Mlinarec, Josipa Lisac and Grupa Indexi.

Spektar Combo released unfortunately just one, mostly vocalised album on croatian label Suzy Records in 1974. But , "...it was difficult to imagine what Spektar sounded like, before their self-titled album was released", as the legendary critic of Croatian Jazz-Rock scene Dražen Vrdoljak was articulated.

Black Pearl is very proud to have finally the answer, how these hidden golden instrumental treasures were sounding like. That shows us the much more brilliant colours of the Croatian Jazzfunk spectre !!
This album includes 6 tracks of the fabulous Spektar project, two Beat Jazz Grinder of shortlived Rocco´s pre-Spektar outfit Grupa Hej and one more track from Rocco-Supermarket.

The Black Pearl is very proud to present a real 80´s futuristic proto club banger from the STRÖER Brothers, with lots of clubby remixes by buddies & friends.

The original track "Night Falls" was only released on a very limited hand-spread promo 12inch, which was especially pressed for the Kunstdisko art-project for the 24th Olympic games in 1988 in Seoul / South-Korea.

Together with the Goethe Institut under the lead management of Jürgen Drews, they created the mammoth "Kunstdisco" project for the country Germany, which was located at the Yoido Ankara Square and took part for the german Seoul Olympic Art Festival.

The Ströer Brothers, who were responsible for the video & music sector as well for the presentation of the live-show, invided and encouraged 25 young german composers and producers, among of them was the young Berlin DJ West Bam & his brother DJ Dick, to produce new music for the Kunstdisco between Rap and new electronic club music from the end of the 80´s. DJ Westbam & Dj Dick were spinning vinyls, that were to be heard at the Kunstdisko only!

The Ströer Brothers themselves produced & presented an special overture and a stage performance, that raised the roof every night. Further in these night sessions they played one-hour-gigs with music of their "Nomaden Project" together with Howard Fine & Nadeen Holloway.

Next to the in-house project Mudegg, the single audio tracks of "Night Falls" were givin to musical buddies like First Touch, Enzo Elia, DJ Rocca, Manelet & Siggatunez to remix them and Black Pearl is more than proud to be able to present you a great variety of remixes, styles and visons on the original track.

Black Pearl would like to thank a lot DJ Basso, who intruduced Tom & Roskow to the track "Nigh Falls", while having a listening session in Berlin a few years ago.
