SYLENT SYD - the tanatory mix

I started to listening to House Music around 95 or so. I know, I was late to the game, but I guess growing up in a small town of 5000 people in Northern Ontario had something to do with it. My brother Shawn would send me mixed tapes of Kenny Glasgow spinning live at The Basement in Toronto.  Fast forward a few years, and I'm at Industry Nightclub with my brother hearing John Acquaviva play for the first time. Not only did I appreciate this House sound that my bro introduced to me, but there was something else in there that caught my ear.
The disco, loopy, acid, and bangin' beat that is Chicago House! Immediately I was drawn to artists like DJ Sneak, Johnny Fiasco, Derrick Carter, DJ Heather, Mark Farina and many more amazing local DJ's. Toronto has always had a wide variety of sounds/influences over the years but Chicago House is and will always be my #1.

It's been in my mind the last few months to do a tribute to the Chicago House sounds that I love. The last few weeks I've been trying to gather the right tracks that mean a lot to me. I mixed it down a few times, but something didn't feel right and knew something was missing. 

Frankie Knuckles passed away on March 31, 2014. His influence on House Music was extraordinary and he was loved by so many - fans, DJ's and artists alike.  Frankie was the missing piece to this mix - As he was and still is "The Godfather of House Music" RIP Frankie Knuckles. This mix is dedicated to Frankie Knuckles and Chicago House music! Thank you Frankie, thank you Chicago, and thank you to the producers of all these tracks….fire it up!
