but they wait all the same.
Lives burned away
for an unfound flame.
Here I lie, 
to ignite them again.
I am no one. But they give me
a name.

Hands never held me,
my eyes never wept,
my chest has
never drawn a breath.
A delusion to
smother despair unchecked.
Coming to take the
only thing left.

Salt in the wound, of a god fearing life.
I am the truth
of the last cold night.
Bodies and souls, can not
pay my price;
As they choke on the ash of sacrifice.
Hearts tossed like coins in the sea,
Begging the tide for an end to need.
A dream, a poisonous fantasy.
My name, on their lips.
as they set sail for me.

Heartless, soulless;
an echo of loss.
an illusion. yet..
they leap from the docks.
Swimming, then sinking,
chasing the mirage.
Seeking me out
to crash on the rocks.

Without a voice,
I give them
silence to mold.
Calling out the
empty hearts
broken men hold.
They search for a sign
from the last lifeboat.
the heat of desire
pulls them into the cold.
A thought, Not a touch, not ever a sound.
Only a chase till the last man drowns.
Each one a different name in his mouth.
Drinking the ache.
As the deep pulls him down.

fallen souls drown beneath my feet:
