Idealism follows me around,

Every idealistic, juvenistic modicum of hope, 
I'll stop buying their stories, 
We all become tories in the end.

Rhetoric of the bourgeoisie,

And have another cup of tea. 

My younger man is going to break my heart 
But I can't tell where his song stops and where mine starts, 
He's such beautiful ideas 
As uninformed and naive as they are. 

And I don't think he'd like me if we met, 
Cos I'd join One Direction in a heartbeat if they'd let me, 
he'd go bounce round the garden 
and play the lead part in his own film. 

So just keep me tranquilised with tea, 
There's so much I've trained myself to need. 
Boy alone can live on music, art and history, 
Then I'll reach my mid 30s 
And all I'll think about is money. 

Idealism, you have done me wrong.

In the second hour, Mixcloud & Soho Radio's Xanthe joined us in true 'desert island discs' style, running through the range of influences, with much chit chatter along the way!

Sylvette are a 5 piece Art Rock band based in Manchester. All hailing from different musical backgrounds, each band member draws from unique influences to give Sylvette an identity completely its own. Think the raw, yearning melodies of Led Zeppelin and Jeff Buckley supported by the bold sounds of Bjork and Aphex Twin, all fused together by the disturbing poetry of Neutral Milk Hotel. Their much anticipated second album ’Stiller than Still’ will be released on 17th July.
