I wrote this song when a dear friend of mine was thinking about moving away. It's about the gradual separation of two people, and the conflicting feelings of knowing someone must leave and wishing they could stay forever. She ended up staying, so I not only got to keep my friend, I got a nice song out of the whole thing - works for me!
