Science Cult Radio 048: Gliesse

Ultranoise is an electronic musician and dj from Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
His style is a diverse exploration of modern electronic dance music, ranging from the subtle, percussive depths of minimal to the powerful, euphoric peaks of trance and the raw, broken beats of electro.
A true devotee of mood and a dedicated music producer himself, Ultranoise crafts his narratives with a distinct preference for trippy and atmospheric soundscapes. But also to incorporate cold, industrial-tinged shades, and harmonizing them with warm, luminous melodies. This unique contrast, born from a deep love for crafting sound, creates a captivating, ethereal, and deeply emotional journey that is both cerebral and physically moving.

Which artists has influenced you the most?
- I rarely give preference to certain artists and always try to listen to a variety. But in terms of electronic music ideas I mostly inspired by Vril, Basic Channel, Client_03.

What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?
- I just released a vynil on Believe In Records, I can't really say anything about future releases yet.

What inspires you now to create music?
- I like to catch musical ideas, like being inside the loop. And I like to play my tracks in clubs. I think these two feelings inspire me the most.

What set-up do you use when creating music?
- I use my favorite Elektron boxes - Syntakt and Digitakt, I have a small Eurorack synth, but everything always ends up in Ableton Live with a touch of favorite plugins.

Strange But Dance Music #214: Ultranoise

Second Storey is the artistic vessel of Alec Storey, a Berlin-based producer whose roots trace back to Norfolk’s free-party scene — the same fertile ground that gave rise to Bloc Weekender. Emerging first as Al Tourettes with early releases on [k]rack-troni[k], he went on to record for Apple Pips, Sneaker Social Club, Aus Music, and Schmorgasbord, while building a formidable creative partnership with Appleblim. Together, the duo remixed Planetary Assault Systems, Axel Boman, Underworld, and Raudive, before launching the ALSO project. Their live debut at Space Ibiza set the tone for a string of European performances and culminated in a full-length album on R&S Records.

Second Storey’s solo trajectory is no less ambitious. Commissioned for the soundtrack to Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, he later inaugurated his Second Storey alias with the Houndstooth-released debut album Double Divide. Preceding EPs on Nervous Horizon and Austria’s Trust laid the groundwork for his second LP, Lucid Locations, a cerebral distillation of his electro-techno-funk aesthetic. The subsequent remix collection, Lucid Interpretations, featured contributions from Nastia, Radioactive Man, The Exaltics, Machine Woman, and 214. His catalog has since expanded with releases on Clone’s Frustrated Funk, Varvet, Natural Selection, Pudel Produkt, Mechatronica, and most recently, No Static Automatic.

Stylistically, Second Storey’s compass is guided by funk’s psychedelic backbone, channeled through electro, techno, IDM, UK bass, and other rhythmic mutations. Whether collaborating, remixing, or commanding the stage with live drum pad intensity, his output remains singular: elastic, unpredictable, and bursting with energy.

Foreign is the pseudonym used by Miguel Vázquez to play sets of IDM and Braindance sounds, combining the smoothness and efficiency of transparent melodies with abstract landscapes and dense atmospheres loaded with complex polyrhythmic structures.

In mid-2001, Miguel began working at the well-known record shop Recycled Music Center in Madrid, run by DJ Yke. This period lasted several years and provided him with a remarkable learning experience in all styles of electronic music.

Throughout these years Foreign has played in the events of Hard Taste and in clubs like NAO, Dub Club, Specka, Graffiti, Shagü Club and many more. 

He also recorded several podcasts for different record labels like Sin Hilo, Gladio Operations, Zanderhythm, Archaic as well as web platforms like Hyonotic Groove, INDEX and Strange But Dance Music.

In 2022 he created his own label, Mutoscope Records, mostly oriented to IDM and Braindance.

Desde Sevilla, Eli Sanz nos entrega un Mix grabado en directo que condensa a la perfección su manera de entender la pista: energía, elegancia y conocimiento a partes iguales.
Nacida en la capital andaluza, Eli Sanz creció asistiendo a fiestas de breakbeat y empapándose del sonido de los DJs locales, un caldo de cultivo que acabaría definiendo su relación con la música electrónica. Con los años, su curiosidad y oído melómano la llevaron a explorar los márgenes del break, el electro o la new wave, construyendo un estilo propio en el que conviven la técnica y el instinto, la precisión y la emoción.
Selectora de la A a la Z, Eli ha sido residente en Fun Club con la fiesta Relio, además de firmar fechas recurrentes en algunos de los templos más reconocidos de la escena sevillana y nacional, como Malandar, Sala X, Even, La 2 o Electrolunch. Su amplio conocimiento musical y su naturalidad a la hora de mezclar géneros la han consolidado como una figura imprescindible dentro de la nueva generación de DJs andaluces.
Grabado el pasado 11 de octubre en Sala X de Sevilla, este mix recoge la instantánea de una noche de conexión entre artista y público: líneas de bajo afiladas, percusiones rotas y melodías sintéticas que se entrelazan para construir un relato tan sólido como hipnótico.
