This is a live recording, captured at Ego club in Düsseldorf, June 5 1999.  The music has been created with a self written step sequencer, the PX-18, controlling  a basic sample player and effects engine, all done in MaxMSP, running on a Powerbook G3. The step sequencer had some unique features, e.g. the ability to switch patterns independently in each track, which later became an important part of a certain music software.

I found the recording on a backup disk today. It has not been edited or mastered. During the first 20 minutes of the set, and before the 'encore' the Monolake CD 'Gobi' is playing in the background.

Form is an exploration of a materially constrained sound source through the lens of the primary elements of formal order. Mirrored in isotopic halves, the work encourages a contemplation of its inbuilt formal relations by navigating a compound of opposing polarities towards an overall equilibrium.

Form is the full-length album premiere by Wellington-based electronic musician mHz and will be released digitally and as a limited SD Card edition.

Such A Perfect Day

Dyad Beta is the second edition of an ongoing experiment series which explores the complex of visually stored sound respectively sonically stored visuals. Inspired by the concept of wave-particle duality, which states that a quantum object can have two different characteristics at the same time, the series also can be seen as an aesthetic approach for analyzing the time-based mutual interactions between two seemingly separated perception forms. The sounds of this series are created with so called vector synthesis, which means that the visual representation one can see is the actual sound of a certain time frame and vice versa. To make this phenomena visible, the sounds of the Dyad series can be viewed by using the Dyad software application.

Dyad Beta by Berlin-based artist Andreas Lutz will be released digitally whereas the associated software application is available as a free download from the label’s website. The sonic parts of the series are published as audio releases whereas visual extracts are captured as pigment prints.
