Deep House DJ Set #2

Rounding out the month of November, Dopamine White welcomes Tonelab to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia Philip Rex aka Tonelab has a storied history in electronic music with previous projects Decoy, IMPS (with Sebastian Mullaert and Marcus Henriksson from Son Kite/Minilogue) and Rex'n'Chappo. 2017 would mark the debut of his Tonelab alias with an EP via long-standing Aussie imprint Open Records. The next half decade would see Tonelab choose his projects wisely, adding 3rd Avenue, Clubsonica, Flow Music and Traum to his discography. With a recently released remix for fellow countrymen Secretly Famous, Tonelab now adds Dopamine White to his resume with a three-track showcase ‘Otie'.

Written as a love poem for his son and inspired by the beauty of childhood, it is the title track ‘Otie' which gets the release underway. Sitting as one of Tonelab's most emotional yet club-effective productions to date, the Aussie producer blends punchy kick drums and warm contoured grooves with a narrative of pulsating rhythms and vibrant melodies. Hopeful sonics emerge across the first act, creating an emotive canopy of sound for a big, bold and undeniably poignant lead melody, one which may remind many of the progressive house golden years. Percolating and evolving across the main break, tension and emotion only elevate further, before eventually melting down to a euphoric finale.

Selection two ‘Starbathing' marks the EP's halfway point and pushes forward with a youthful quality. Finding a nice balance between progressive and melodic house, it's a marriage of techno-inspired beats, heartrending melodies and soulful synth phrasing which carries the journey to a celestial sounding break and rejuvenating conclusion.

The release concludes with the laid back dubbed out qualities of ‘Double Dreaming'. Opting for a deeper yet groovy approach, the Aussie artist flexes his melody crafting prowess once again, crafting a clever coax of prophetic moods across the first movement. Anticipation is at a premium as the main break takes shape, modulation flows and rises in fine fashion, eventually breaking off into a subterranean groove for a finale that's perfectly suited to a dark smoky backroom.

herzlichst willkommen zur 10ten Episode von Snips with Plants! 
Ich freue mich riesig, euch endlich auf YouTube begrüßen zu dürfen. Von nun an gibt es jede Folge hier auf dem 'languages music' Kanal zu sehen. Mein monatliches Set wird weiterhin auch auf SoundCloud zu hören sein. Alle Links findet ihr unten.


Kommen wir zu meinen Pflanzis. Leute, was soll ich sagen? Denen geht's gut. Jeden Tag hat mindestens eine von ihnen ein neues Blatt. Es beginnt wieder die schöne Zeit, in der es in eine 8-Stunden-Pflege-Umräumaktion eskaliert. Man überlegt, ob und welche umgetopft werden müssen, neue Standorte werden ausprobiert, düngen, braune Stellen wegschneiden und alle Blätter entstauben und besprühen.
Wobei man sich völlig verliert, alles drumherum ausblendet, entspannt abschaltet und dem Alltagsstress entflieht.
Und nebenbei entdeckt man schöne neue Musik. Passend dazu präsentiere ich euch meinen neuen Mix! Zur Zeit feier ich Savvas und beginne mit ihm, zudem habe ich auch frische neue Tracks wie zum Beispiel von Andfolk & Hannes Bieger. Zwei unreleased Tracks von languages music sind auch mit dabei. Now, let’s talk about my plants. Guys, what can I say? They’re doing great! Every day at least one of them has a new leaf. It’s that lovely time again when things escalate into an 8-hour rearranging session. You start thinking about which ones need repotting, trying out new spots, taking care of them, misting, fertilizing, and dusting off all the leaves. You totally lose yourself in it, tune everything else out, and escape the daily stress. And on top of that, you discover some awesome new music. So, fittingly, I’m presenting my new mix to you! Currently celebrating Savvas and kicking off with him, plus I've got brand new tracks from Andfolk & Hannes Bieger. Also featuring two unreleased languages music tracks! Hay Progressive House Plantys,

Was geht? Seit Tagen habe ich einen Track im Kopf, der meine Stimmung perfekt widerspiegelt – „One“ von ODAX! Der hat mich so fest im Griff, dass ich schon überlege, ihm einen eigenen Platz auf der Couch anzubieten. Er macht gute Laune und weckt die Vorfreude auf den Sommer, der schon in den Startlöchern lauert. Mega!
Und das ist noch nicht alles! Ich habe auch zwei unreleased Tracks für euch am Start: 
einen neuen  mega , ultra , super , kracher Hit von Sudhaus und eine Boba Fette Groove-Bombe von languages music. Also dreht die Lautstärke auf und feiert eure gute Laune.

Ich habe mir heute eine neue Monstera gekauft. Es ging einfach nicht anders – ich liebe diese Pflanzen! Ich kann einfach nicht genug von ihnen bekommen. Meine erste Monstera, die ich vor vier Jahren adoptiert habe, hat sich auch wieder gefangen. Sie hatte einen kleinen Kampf mit Thripsen und war fast im Pflanzenhimmel, aber jetzt schenkt sie mir Blatt für Blatt. 
Was ich von ihnen gelernt habe? Geduld! Und ja, gebt niemals auf – selbst wenn ihr mal einen kleinen „Blattverlust“ habt!

Dear Progressive House Plantys,

What’s poppin? I’ve had this track stuck in my head for days that totally matches my vibe – 
“One” by ODAX! It’s got me so hooked that I’m thinking about giving it its own spot on the couch. 
It’s such a feel-good track and gets me all hyped for summer, which is just around the corner. Awesome!
And that’s not all! I’ve got two unreleased tracks for you: a new housy mega super dupa banger from Sudhaus and a fresh groove bomb from languages music. So turn up the volume and celebrate your good vibes!

Oh, and I bought a new Monstera today. I just couldn’t help myself – I love these plants! 
I can’t get enough of them. My first Monstera, which I adopted four years ago, is doing better too. 
It had a little battle with thrips and was almost on its way to plant heaven, but now it’s giving me leaf after leaf. 
What have I learned from them? Patience! And yeah, never give up – 
even if you have a little “leaf loss” now and then!

Es ist die 12. Episode von Snips with Plants! Seit einem Jahr produzieren wir nun diese Reihe und ich dachte mir, es ist Zeit, dir zu erzählen, wie ich eigentlich zu meinen Pflanzis kam. Ich muss zugeben, ich war nie ein großer Pflanzenfreund. Ich dachte, sie bringen nur Arbeit und Unordnung in die Wohnung. Aber dann kam Corona und alles änderte sich. Mit viel Zeit zu Hause beschloss ich, meine Wohnung neu zu dekorieren und dachte, künstliche Pflanzen wären die perfekte Lösung - keine Pflege, immer grün, keine Arbeit. Also bestellte ich mir ein 4er-Set... ohne die Beschreibung zu lesen. Und dann kam der Schock: es waren echte Pflanzen! 'Mist', dachte ich, aber diese 4 Pflanzen haben mein Herz in kurzer Zeit erobert. Während des Lockdowns waren nur Baumärkte geöffnet und ich beschloss mich richtig einzulassen und meine Pflanzenleidenschaft begann. 5 Jahre später kann ich mir meine Welt ohne sie nicht mehr vorstellen.

This is the 12th episode of Snips with Plants! We've been rolling out this series for a year now, and I figured it's time to spill the beans on how I ended up with my plant babies. I gotta admit, I wasn't exactly a plant fanatic. I thought they'd just bring a bunch of work and mess into my pad. But then Corona hit, and everything changed. With tons of time on my hands, I decided to give my place a makeover and thought fake plants would be the way to go - no fuss, always green, no hassle. So I ordered a 4-pack... without reading the description, LOL! And then the shock: they were real plants! 'Shoot', I thought, but these 4 plants won me over in no time. During the lockdowns, only hardware stores were open, and I decided to go all in and my plant obsession took off. 5 years later, I couldn't imagine my life without them.

Synchrohm, aka Carsten Ohm, was born in Germany in 1980 and played his first turntables at the age of 14.
He started using Traktor around 2010. Since November 2024, he has been experimenting with Ableton Live...
His music is light and driving, yet full of energy. A blend of techno, deep house, acid, and psychedelic elements.

There were isolated performances at Butan - Wuppertal, Fusion - Münster, Sams - Bochum, Zeche Unter Tage - Sprockhövel, Sobieski - Bochum, SAMS Bochum but Synchrohm mostly played  for friends or at illegal parties in his area. But always with passion.

For him, music is his driving force.
