THE JOB

The band's first ever track was initially available only to friends of the band on cheap cassette tapes designed to degrade with each play. In the end, the tangled tape just left the listener with a memory of the piece.

The song was recorded in a makeshift studio, in just a few hours, on a shoestring budget.

Showcasing them as a doom-laden 3-piece, the pacing of the song gives each instrument room to breathe, with the track coming in at 5 compelling minutes.

Listening to "Laxá" now, it is striking how it contrasts to their more recent works featuring keyboard player Mike Taylor, who joined after their move to San Francisco. This track remains, though, a real signpost in the band's development. Dark post-rock and alternative rock noise.
