but although the track is very good, the grain of the sound
didn't really correspond to the aesthetic of the album (raw, direct,
parasitic...like the consciousness of the characters in the film).

The cars whizzed past at lightning speed, kicking up the puddles of water in the gutter and drenching her from head to toe. She'd never considered herself a lucky person, generally bad things seemed to follow her around - an unwarranted parking ticket; a lost purse; countless trips and falls over uneven paving slabs... It must have been something she'd done in a past life, some kind of systemic karma that was, and would continue, to always be part of her. Or maybe there was no explanation at all, she'd simply drawn a proverbial short straw...

Athens-based label FERMA is starting the year with their first ever vinyl release, a Various Artists EP that compiles dark, heady sounds for the dance floor. Rites of Passage is packed with the styles that are at the core of the DIY imprint's output, from electro grooves and EBM flavours to metallic synth cuts and heavy, industrial sounds. Tasked with each bringing one of these dishes to the table are Jack Roland, Serge Geyzel, 5ZYL and Amsterdam-based producer Extase Urbaine (AKA Pablo Diskko) who's behind today's premiere.

We're incredibly pleased to welcome Dissemblance to the GF series. She is a very talented and poetic artist that the entire GF team have been following for a while and had the pleasure of meeting in person at Intergalactic FM fest this year. You can check her lauded album “Centauresse” on the mighty L.I.E.S. records, following up her 2019 debut album "Over The Sand" for Mannequin Records. Her productions bring a variety of sounds and invite us to explore the full range of her musical dynamics, leading the listener into her universe where the border between dreams and reality blurs into one, with no tangible beginning or end. If you happen to be in Paris on Friday, December 8th, do not miss her Dissemblance Live at Petit Bain to enjoy the full experience. For the series, she has crafted a special session where she gives us a unique and magical mix out of her studio in Paris, incorporating exclusive vocals and Rhodes improvisations over 80 beautiful minutes of thoughtful and sensory music. She plays tracks from the 80s: Schleimer K, DZ Lectric & Anthon Shield, taking a funky turn with Girl Unit, to arrive to some dirty acid music by Beverly Hills 808303, ending with a solo rough Rhodes impro through the Moog Cluster Flux pedal. This mix is literally a special journey through a solid selection, poetic vocals and inventive jams. Don't take our word for it: Lock in!

Dark Entries flashes back to the grimy streets of New York City circa 1982 to bring us an unreleased album from cult outfit Ike Yard. Comprised of Stuart Argabright, Michael Diekmann, Kenneth Compton, and Fred Szymanski, Ike Yard sits between the sinewy proto-body music of the Neue Deutsche Welle and the shattered grooves of their No Wave peers in New York. The band’s initial run was short but blinding. They released an EP for Les Disques du Crépuscule in 1981, which was followed by their legendary self-titled LP for Factory in 1982. They disbanded within a year, frustrated by the slow pace at which the industry was able to release their increasingly challenging music. 1982 features 10 tracks which likely would have become the band’s second LP - only four of these songs have previously seen release on 2006’s 1980-82 Collected via Acute Records. Following the release of Ike Yard, they continued down their tortured path of hybrid electro-acoustic music with an arsenal of now-classic analog instruments, including the Korg MS-20 and the Roland TR-808. Skittering rhythms teeter on the verge of collapse while seasick synth warbles threaten to push us overboard. Electronic washes devolve into waves of feedback. Sneering basslines threaten dancers to move, but how can the body obey? This is dangerous music, gliding along the brink. The album features a live photo of the band by Makoto Iida and includes an insert with liner notes from Stuart Argabright. 1982 is essential for fans of post-punk and caustic electronics from Liaisons Dangereuses to Beau Wanzer.

Exactly one year after my 2022 release entitled 'Agitation Propaganda', I return with a collection of new tracks that were produced between the middle of 2022 and early 2023. This 20-track album, as the title suggests, is a tribute to the love affair that I have with making music. In 2023 I celebrate my 40th birthday so I thought it was good timing to release a concept album that pays homage to the one true love that I've ever known- Synthesis ♥️

This album, as with the last, relies heavily on the sounds of classic synthesizers/drum machines like Mono/Poly, MS-20, SH-101, Jupiter-8, Juno-106, SH-2, JX-8P, System 100, Juno 60, JX-3P, TB-303, Polysix, TR-606, OB-8, TR-808, ARP Odyssey, as well as some contemporary additions to my studio like Hydrasynth, System 8, MC-707, MicroFreak, Prophet Rev2, Novation Peak, Minilogue, SE-02, and Microkorg.

The artwork for the album was done by the brilliant artist Kelly Gilleran, who also just so happens to be my long-term girlfriend. She is a pattern designer, painter, and illustrator. Her work can be found here: www.kellygilleran.redbubble.com/
