Check in, is your breathing open, soft, relaxed? Or constricted? We learn constrictive breathing patterns early on and they shape our bodies and our lives. Yet when you can notice and accept this is what you’ve been doing, you can begin to unwind from this primal wound.

Do you ever feel that you’re in a raging storm in your life? With your kids? With your family? Your friends? Or with your work? Or even in your own head? 

This week's (August 29 - September 3) energy theme is all about the relief that's possible after working hard to deliver the material and spiritual goods to the family and communities in which you live and serve. 

Thunder over water is an intense symbol that depicts a thunderstorm over rain. And when the storm passes, you can relax. 

You see, we are relational beings. 

We all came from a mother and father and thus we are part of a family, like it or not. The 40th hexagram acknowledges that, while we are fundamentally alone, we are also a part of a whole. This creates a kind of tension.

Many people have a tendency to want to prove their worth by doing for family and friends. Indeed, you may have a tremendous will power to give to others, BUT it has to be in alignment with your inner knowing... AND you have to FEEL the emotional support or material rewards from those receiving your generosity and hard work. Otherwise... you guessed it... you just created a recipe for EXHAUSTION!

Our advice? Prevent and/or recuperate from exhaustion by taking alone time. Make it a habit every day to be alone in your own space, even if it's in the bathroom for 10 minutes! During this time by yourself, connect to your sacred inner space and allow yourself to relax TOTALLY. Give yourself the gift of relaxation after the storm. When you give to your family or co-workers from this space of relaxation, how might that change your interactions with them?

Own the freedom to be unapologetically you. So often the exhaustion comes when you forget yourself and get sucked into proving or being something you are not, for the sake of what you think others need or want you to be.

Confusion. What's so bad about that non-stop flood of random thoughts, images and memories running through your head?  Read on if your thoughts tie you up in knots! (Good news ahead)

Our energy theme for this week, based in the I'Ching's hexagram 64, is extra special... and intense. The symbol for hexagram 64 is fire over water. Fire rises up. Water flows down. This signifies a difficult time, a time of confusion, but also a promise of success. We're in the beginning of a new cycle, a transition from disorder to order.

Is there something in your life that’s got you confused these days? The good news is that confusion precedes creation. Richard Rudd of The Gene Keys states, "Confusion in itself is a perfectly natural state... rippling with potentiality."

The only downside to confusion is when your mind engages or identifies with it or when your mind tries to understand something that’s impossible to get through thinking. The wisdom is that once you meet the confusion, rather than running away from it, a miracle starts to happen. In other words, when you relax and watch your mind trying to understand or trying to avoid the confusion, you're making way for an inner shift to occur.

Some call that enlightenment. That "aha" feeling. Everything becomes light and clear.

Starting this coming Tuesday, we will have the energy of correction coming into our world for a few days.

In general, we all share this very human trait to want to perfect the pattern, but it will be more "in your face" next week. For example, we find the hair in the soup and we want to correct it! We’re dissatisfied with the way we’ve been being mean to our kids or partner or how we’ve been treating our bodies. And we want to change it for the better. 

That’s a good thing, right?

Perfecting the pattern to create a better future is a natural human quality for sure. Yet when the need to correct and perfect tips into definitive standards for how we or others should be, it can feel judgy. It feels judgy because it is! Perhaps you've been on the receiving end of someone else's judgment of your behaviour... not fun. 
So you can see how working to make improvements based on dissatisfaction can so easily tip into judgment that separates people through right and wrong, good and bad.

Ugh!

What can you do with this energy of correction that is inbuilt and seemingly necessary, but can be so judgy and harsh? What's the gift of dissatisfaction?

In fact, not knowing allows you to ask questions, to dive into the depths and let life show you your next step. You don’t have to be an expert nor do you need to know the end before you begin something new. You just have to be patient for your next step to show itself to you.

Your knowing is the well of depth inside you that nourishes and keeps you healthy. It’s not necessarily about knowledge or book learning... it's what you and your body know that only you know, that reveals itself moment by moment.

On February 1 we were mindful that it was “Imbolc,” the day that marks the Celtic halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. This liminal time is when seeds are springing in the belly of Mother Earth. Almost here... but not quite yet.

In this liminal space, we invite you to listen. 

Why? Because if you’re not listening, you might miss the whispers of your Inner Compass. If you’re too preoccupied with your thoughts and “to-do’s”, you might miss that gentle nudge.

Your inner truth and personal guidance system is much like the seeds springing in the belly of the earth. Hidden, yet full of life and potentiality. Sometimes what you know whispers so softly and swiftly. Are you silent enough and still enough to hear those whispers?

Perhaps you're most familiar with the CLANG that periodically disturbs the hum of your discordant thoughts. You know... those times when your inner guidance system needs to SHOUT, because you've been deaf to its response, whispers and nudges for far too long! Then, when you really need to know... BAM! OUCH!

How about pre-empting the “ouch,” and listening to your personal guidance system in the first place?

This week, be sure to carve out some space to tune in to your knowing, your truth.

Did you ever have a relationship with someone and it didn’t work out well because you were in a relationship with their potential and not them?

Perhaps you stayed longer just to see their potential come to fruition, but as time dragged on, they never really lived the greatness you saw in them. Perhaps you realized that while their potential was palpable, it wasn’t enough to keep you two together. You wanted to experience their gifts in action. Or are you still waiting?

Seeing potential in someone, while it’s a beautiful thing, can also be a relationship trap. Your projections and expectations of them may or may not be true… or you might very well be aware of their potential gifts… BUT also be attached to those gifts and potentials showing up in a particular way that may or may not ever happen.

In short, just because someone could be/do something amazing, doesn’t mean they should or would be/do it! Are you willing to see the potential and not be attached to how it shows up… if ever?

Recently moved by a show called “Alone,” where 10 people are selected to survive in the rugged wilderness alone as long as they can with only 10 resources, we were inspired by the different ways each person took on that challenge.

In a nutshell, contestants have to build a shelter, procure their own food and water while surviving in harsh conditions which include weather,dangerous predators and their own mental chatter. The last one standing wins the prize.

We were specifically moved by a woman in her 50’s, Gina, who was able to not only survive for 67 days alone, but to thrive. What was her secret?
