An upbeat song about unlimited possibilities and empowerment – with a retro vibe from the MiniMoog synth. This is an update of a song I originally did with Prima a couple of years ago. I think Avanna does best with more quiet and introspective songs, but I thought this might be a change of pace. A girl’s gotta have some fun!

Something a bit different for me. When I first heard this beautiful song done for Hatsune Miku English [http://youtu.be/jwbtE3_7b9M], I thought it would be a great song for Avanna to sing with lots of sadness and emotion – and talking too.

Bad Girl Callin' - SynthV Natalie

A quirky indie-rock song about the dangers of man-made climate change – featuring Dreamtonics Natalie voice in SynthesizerV vocal studio. The music is kept simple with just two guitars, bass and drums, an organ and some rhythmic pad sounds. The screen captures try to show how the vocal software works and how all the elements are assembled in the Reaper DAW software.

Storms - Natalie SynthV

A new Avanna original. A short and sweet, acoustic-indie-rock ballad about the things that come between us. The fast syncopated singing was trickier that I thought it would be -- not something that English Vocaloids do easily with realistic pronunciation and cadence. And it was a chance to try some guitar loops (I usually use VST instruments). Thanks for listening, liking, comments, sharing, and subscribing.

Storms - Vocaloid Avanna

My third Vocaloid creation pays homage to The Fab 4's iconic 60’s tune Tomorrow Never Knows – complete with backwards guitar solo, tape loops, and other 60-70’s touches. 

I changed the key from C to G to let Prima sing in a more comfortable range. I also focused on alternate phonemes for pronunciation and to temper the operatic accents. And I tried some new “uh” breath stops at the end of a few words to try to emulate the natural sounds of her powerful singing style. There are also a lot of synthesizers, chorus, echo and phasing effects going on, too.

Tomorrow Never Knows -- Vocaloid2 Prima

My forth Vocaloid music piece is a cover of Fireflies. I liked the tune and the lyrics and thought it would be a challenge for Prima to sing, and a potential fun video to make.

I wanted it to sound like how a more traditional band might play it, so I changed the instruments from synthesizers to piano, drums, and bass, but kept the string section to fill it out. There are a lot of words and it was a struggle to find the best phonemes and accents for Vocaloid pronunciation. There are still a few odd spots in her voice.

Fireflies -- Vocaloid2 Prima with original music

This is my 2nd original Prima song. It’s about trying to maintain the exuberance of youthful discovery as we travel through life. The song started as an 80’s arena-rock anthem with guitar power chords, but Prima’s voice fit better with more subtle instruments and acoustic guitar.

Forever - Vocaloid2 Prima original song

An upbeat original tune about infinite possibilities, featuring Vocaloid2 Prima. I tried to give her a confident voice with a bit of attitude. The lyrics enforce my personal belief that anyone can learn to do anything, if they put their mind to it. The song started as an alternative version of Morning Light as it was being developed, which is why it has a similar rhythm and sound. Thanks for listening.

I Dont Think So - Vocaloid2 Prima original song

Something different and a bit of an experiment. An original old-school love ballad with Vocaloid Prima and Tonio singing with a jazz quartet. My first attempt at a duet and working with Tonio. He has a very powerful operatic voice. The song was designed to be like an imaginary concert with maybe Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli at a small jazz club. 

The song is about two young professional people in the big city, very busy and with lots of friends, but hoping to meet that perfect soul mate one day.

Two Hearts -- Vocaloid Prima and Tonio Jazz Duet

For my second Avanna song, I thought I would try an acoustic version of my first Vocaloid song, Morning Light, originally done for Prima. The Prima version was a synth-heavy pop tune. For Avanna’s softer and more articulate voice, I thought I would revision it as played by an acoustic band with just guitars and bass. It also makes extensive use of all the variations of breath files from Zero-G, which give her a lot of personality. Thanks for listening.

Morning Light unplugged -- Avanna Vocaloid

Amateur musician making music since the 70's in a wide range of styles. I've been using synthesized voices since Vocaloids back in 2013. Recently discovered Synthesizer V and WOW! has the technology improved. I will leave up the old Vocaloid pieces for now and post new pieces (and some remakes) with SynthV original songs.
