Experimental Saint Petersburg-based sonic shapeshifter Bop is back on Hospital Records with his brand new five-track ‘Perehod’ EP that ventures afar from his usual drum & bass status as he spans through 2-step, breakbeat and ambient: all with his spellbinding signature production finesse which has already received the seal of approval from the likes of Ejeca, London Elektricity, Alec Falconer, Because Of Art and Oneman.

Opening piece ‘NDE’ casts Bop’s archetypal and skittery off-beat rhythms across a palate of soothing synth pads, adventurous arpeggios and dusty hoover bass drones. Subtly funky throughout, the tinges of garage vocal stabs shimmer across this imaginative stepper.

‘Take Your Time’ offers up thought provoking chord progressions amongst Bop’s contemplative sound . A super low-slung drum pattern makes way for the crisp, immersive vocal tones that flutter elegantly above.

Switching to fifth gear, ‘Beach Simulator 3D’ leads the charge with up-tempo breakbeats racing across dubby chord stabs and eerie percussive effects. A late-night ride you’ll need to buckle your seatbelt for, Bop initiates intergalactic mode on this one.

‘Skolzkaya Dorozhka’, meaning ‘Slippery Slope’ in Russian, is a wobbly dub groove that channels styles from mid-noughties DMZ and Tempa releases, a heavy sub drives through a minimalist half-time groove.

Finally, the 150+ BPM whopper ‘Hiding’ is a nod to Bop’s love for dance music which can be found at the faster end of the electronic spectrum. Ticking hats and warm atmospherics are the perfect wrap-up to a truly special release.

No stranger to pioneering successful moves outside the realms of 174BPM, Bop secured the number 1 spot on the Beatport Garage chart alongside Subwave with ‘Haze’. With support over the years from the likes of DJ Mag and Resident Advisor, as well as radio support on BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM and Reprezent, not to mention the running of his very own esteemed Microfunk imprint, Bop continues to affirm himself as an undeniable dance music pillar.

Slumber Session: Synkro

The second episode of Ampere Archives comes from the skilled hands of Joe "Synkro" Mcbride, the ginger glass wearing producer from Manchester. Since he found a new home at Apollo, sub-label of the iconic Belgian R&S Records, it was no surprise to find him on the bill of the R&S 'In Order To Dance' Weekender in December last year. Through atmospheric melodies and heady bass lines he created an easy but moody listening, illustrating influences from a wide spectrum of bass culture and electronica by decorating his story with inventive and touching soundscapes.  The overwhelming layers of lugubrious synths flowing over edgy beats and miniature voices like waves, leave you behind a little woozy. Perfect for some afternoon relaxing or to wind down an endless afterparty.

Slime hits it's 50th release and to celebrate we've got something truly special for you.

From its inception at the start of this decade, the label has strived to bring you the very best in forward-thinking electronic music, designed as much for your own headspace as it is for the dancefloor. We've sought to re-capture the wide-eyed thrill of the first age of rave, that era of experimental sounds and styles which changed the way so many of us listen to music forever, and re-interpret it for a new generation.

With that in mind we welcome Vausz to the label. The story begins in the spring of 2011, when we first heard his work. It immediately flooded our synapses with a warm sense of nostalgia, his style implicitly woven from the fabric of rave's best elements - but wholly imbued with a sense of the here and now. Playful, evocative and totally uplifting - we were hooked. However, we felt there was something else that could be accomplished here beyond the normal parameters of what we release. So we set Vausz a challenge - create an album that puts it all together. The faded heritage of rave, the ecstasy-drenched comedowns, the hazy mix of genres - make something that is a testament to our love for this music. His response? Challenge accepted.

Painstakingly crafted over the last year with banks of battered hardware, the album you have now is just over an hour long but absolutely crammed with invention. Intended to be enjoyed as one whole cohesive piece of music, 'Bōsōzoku' sounds like Blade Runner on Acid. Taking its name from the Japanese term for biker gangs (the literal translation is "violent running tribe") whose style and attitude were channeled in such seminal films as Akira, the music creates a neon-soaked apocalyptic mindscape which is completely immersive. Lend us your ears for one hour and Vausz will transport you to another world constructed from the golden age sounds of rave.

Across twelve tracks Vausz distills the spirit of electronic music in an odyssey through house, techno, electro, acid, ambient and downbeat that recalls the timeless quality of artists such as Leftfield, Future Sound Of London, Boards Of Canada, Aphex Twin and Biosphere. Digested as a whole it is a truly hallucinatory experience; a complete removal from the transitory and a sonic projection into something profoundly surreal.

In its purest form it encapsulates what Slime stands for  - music to move minds.
