This is a weird one!

Part of a new album I've been uploading, featuring compositions written over the last several months of 2021. If anyone can pinpoint what all of these compositions have in common, musically-speaking, put it in the comments - there was a concept tying everything together but I'm not going to reveal what it was, haha.

This album is going to be called "Prohibited Topics," a tribute to the textbook authors and teachers whose work is being disrupted by right wing efforts to stifle education about racial disparity and structural racism in the US. These compositions weren't written with this subject matter in mind, full-disclosure, but the album has now been named in response to this issue and will be dedicated to educators, and to truth, which will win in the end despite efforts to silence it.

Music can express our deepest feelings when words sometimes fail or are not enough… This track paints a picture of what it might be like when Nature has an opportunity to heal itself from the destructive actions of the human race.

K.M.Ende and I share a deep respect for nature and a worry for how the urge to make as much profit with everything as possible rather than making more sustainable decisions affects our planet, climate, plants, all living beings, us. We got chatting about this topic which led to our collaboration. I am very happy to have shared some ideas and sounds with a wonderful producer K.M.Ende (https://soundcloud.com/b-p-s-s )whose music is beautiful, interesting and of high quality. Another Day Without Humanity (K.M.Ende & Heidi K collaboration)

StillnessTheory is a blues-infused, hipster-rooted acoustic rock band that blends raw soul with modern groove. it has a darker sound. i’m inspired by his music. this might sound more like something off WZRD.

it’s a song but it’s more meant to be an ambient track.

Digital Artifact is a computer engineer and composer based in Kansas with a devoted interest in modular synthesis, polyrhythms, minimalist drones, and analog tape. Each song is designed to elicit a varying emotional response. Topics written about include apocalypse scenarios, philosophy of the human condition, and divine interconnectedness. Genres range from neo-classical to electronic IDM.
