In Japan, the last day of the year is called 'Ōmisoka,' and the bell-like sound, the 'Joya no Kane,' featured in this song, is rung 108 times at temples throughout the country on the midnight of New Year's Eve. Watching the 'first sunrise' on New Year's Day is also considered auspicious, and while not everyone participates, this custom is still observed. 'Self Meditation' Remake

*** This extended version was not planned, rather, inspiration called for it, and I felt compelled to revisit this piece. I hope you will enjoy this new version. ***

A requiem for my sister Lisa, and 4th movement of a work I have planned to complete as I have time and inspiration for each part of my outline.

The title comes from my daughter, who heard me as I was playing with the initial melodic idea, and said it sounds like a mourning bird.

This piece is best heard through headphones or quality stereo speakers to hear all the details.

This song is the first The Eclectic Collective has done with Mark, and we all had a great time making it with him. This song started with Mark, who is a bass player's bass player, giving his raw bass track to Ken, who brought it to the group. Ken laid down his exciting drums to match Mark's bass line before anything else happened, though. Once we had a rhythm section, JJ laid down his dancing electric piano. Once that was in place, Josh laid down the organ. Then it was time for the guitars, played electrifyingly by both Tez and Stephen. Tez plays throughout most of the song, and Stephen added his part towards the end. Stephen also mixed this for us expertly, as always. If you have a beverage in your hands, you might want to set it down. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making
