RIP U STREET MUSIC HALL.

When I heard U Hall was officially closing, I didn’t speak up right away because honestly I didn’t know how to process it. That club was incredibly important to me for many reasons. I had some of the best live music experiences of my life there. I played there countless times and it’s really learned the art of selecting records and reading a room. I spent many late nights listening to music on that legendary Martin Audio sound system. It shaped who I am and losing the club felt like losing a dear friend. Knowing it won’t be there next time I come back to DC is absolutely devastating. It just stresses the importance of fighting to keep independent venues open during this tough time. We all need to do our part.

That being said, I thought the best way to celebrate the club’s legacy would be by releasing the mix of the last time I ever played there, last month for U Hall TV. It was really nice to get some closure and be in that booth one last time. RIP U Hall… DC will never be the same.
