What’s up LAMP fam! It’s premiere time again. Today we have a new release from a couple of LAMP Alumni. Nick Garcia and Cabrillo have come together for the title track this two track EP from Garcia set to release tomorrow on the renowned Belgian label House Cookin’ Records. The two have been a big part of our label over the years and I was very excited to see the two came together to collaborate for Raise My Spirit on this New EP from Garcia. Nick Garcia has been on a hot streak in 2021 with a huge release on Simma Black, and others on Understated Records and Deep Root Records. Cabrillo is also coming off a hot release earlier this year Dancin' with Niles Shepard. Make sure to give them both a further look if you are just discovering these two incredibly talented artists.

Ok let's get to talking about this track!!! As I mentioned before this is the A-side and title track. I mean all you really need to know is stated right there in the title, Raise My Spirit. Garcia & Cabrillo bring us an uplifting soulful house jam that will do just that. Everything about this track lifts you up and has such an appealing nature to it. RIght from the start I was drawn into the stabby lead synth that has an air of a Daft Punk vibe to it. Some choppy vocals come in underneath that are accompanied by a very bright and soulful lead vocal that really get the track moving. Rounding everything out and really tying this whole piece together are the dreamiest of pads that effortlessly come and go throughout the track with a super funky bassline rolling through the song being the icing on the cake. THe full release will be available exclusively on Beatport on Friday July 23rd. Make sure you mash that Pre-Order button and grab a copy to add to your collection.

RIP U STREET MUSIC HALL.

When I heard U Hall was officially closing, I didn’t speak up right away because honestly I didn’t know how to process it. That club was incredibly important to me for many reasons. I had some of the best live music experiences of my life there. I played there countless times and it’s really learned the art of selecting records and reading a room. I spent many late nights listening to music on that legendary Martin Audio sound system. It shaped who I am and losing the club felt like losing a dear friend. Knowing it won’t be there next time I come back to DC is absolutely devastating. It just stresses the importance of fighting to keep independent venues open during this tough time. We all need to do our part.

That being said, I thought the best way to celebrate the club’s legacy would be by releasing the mix of the last time I ever played there, last month for U Hall TV. It was really nice to get some closure and be in that booth one last time. RIP U Hall… DC will never be the same.
