Today we reach #132 of our Local Selection series, which continues to go from strength to strength as we feature a new Local Selector every week. It's fair to say this little island is full of talent and this week is no different. 

Fiveseven is a Dublin-based queer techno goddess who's been making waves as both a contributor and resident DJ at the Grace Club parties. She bases her sound around pulsating, hypnotic melodies and rhythmic sequences, which are relentless yet boucey and ravey. 

Her sound is influenced by being closely involved as a club-goer and collaborator in queer techno and sex-positive club cultures. She has mostly played around Ireland, and Berlin with members of sex-positive and queer collectives such as Herrensauna, Mina and Dump. 

We've come across her mixes over the last few months and knew her take on techno would be something our listeners would really appreciate. If you're in the mood for some fun and wonky techno, then make this your soundtrack for the day.

Dold arrives on Blue Hour Music

The Swedish producer, real name Patrik Eriksson, will debut on Luke Standing’s Blue Hour Music outlet in early November this year - the first new artist to be invited onto the growing platform. 

In recent years, Standing has carefully expanded his label to include not only a vast catalogue of original music, but a high profile remix series - and more recently collaborative work as Tracing Xircles. 

Dold’s arrival marks the 11th release from the label, and the young Swedish talent - who runs his own imprint Arsenik alongside fellow producer Kuf, offers up a stunning collection of dance floor recordings that zero in perfectly on the label’s raison d’être. 

Express Route is the result of several weeks of close dialogue between artist & label - with the end product finalised alongside Standing in his Berlin studio. A captivating, Breakbeat driven exploration of retro-futuristic dance music, the recordings fit neatly into the label’s well defined aesthetic - paying homage to the rich lineage of pan-European dance music, whilst maintaining a sharp, contemporary edge. 

Opener Horizons sets the tone for the work, with emotive synth strings set amongst rolling sequences and high-energy drum programming, whilst Express Route is a perfect example of fast-forward loop Techno. Memories taps neatly into the producer’s penchant for Hardcore - riffing on vintage Rave stabs with a decidedly modern bent. Colliding Worlds ties up the EP, a glorious up-tempo nod to classic IDM & Electro. 

Mature and excellently produced, Dold’s arrival on Blue Hour Music marks a considerable step forward in the label’s development, a fine example of form & function that looks forward within the genre - whilst maintaining that particular approach to production that has bound the label’s discography so well thus far.

New weapon in our digital army this time provided by Aine veteran Endplate. This spanish producer is one the hidden treasures of local underground scene, and his skills in the studio are nothing but awesome. We have teamed up with him for this extended Ep made of six scientific techno tracks, well seasoned, carefully crafted and timeless.

Promotion is an obsessive track, with a detailed structure built with a few fundamental elements that come and go wisely in the arrangement.

Tired from Early shows electric tension from the beginning, with sub frequencies boosting the air while continuous synth lines and digital percussions lie on top. Again a multi layered intelligently arranged tool.

At school remids us the best minimal synth works from the likes of Mike Parker, dubbed out delayed lines, subtle kicks and a lot of liquidness.

Gemini goes into solid territories with percussive elements as starring, white noise washes, delayed lines and complexity.

They call it a mine is a pure drill, distorsion, obsessive broken drums and drones in an industrial floor destroyer.

Alteration of the order removes any superficial element and keeps the pace with heavy sub bass action and resonant sweep, and excelent track for building up a set.

A complex and mature work that shows techno is not just teenage noise and social media posts, is also about real music.

Assad Harri Releases Debut Album on Codec Recordings [CDEC004]

Haris Avdic, better known as Assad Harri is a techno producer from Bosnia and
Herzegovina. His debut album on Codec Recordings titled “Igranka” is definitely not one to miss
out on. 9 dance floor ready tracks with subtleties and nuances add the flavor and dynamic that
makes these productions unique and enthralling.

The opener track, Tehno Vjera, starts the album with jumping basslines and arpeggios,
all while lush ambience sweeps throughout the background. Arsen is a rhythmic monster, with
drums pounding through the entirety of the track, as droning pads take the listener to another
level. Spanski then takes things up a notch with industrial, cold sounding drums, and robotic
synths that transport you to a rundown warehouse in the middle of nowhere.

Halfway through the album, comes the bass heavy track Dreamer, in which the
modulating polyrhythmic bassline accentuated by ambience and high tones truly makes the
track feel three-dimensional. Next, the mesmerizing tune She Felt My Wind slows things back
down with droning basslines and plucking synths showered throughout, creating for an enticing
breakdown in the album. Two thirds of the way in comes the title track Igranka, which is a no
nonsense hypnotic belter, with harsh drums and an icy sound palette.

Introducing the latter half of the album is Haris Grozni, a rolling, industrial beat with
distressed synthesizers crying for help for the 4 and a half minute journey through what would
feel like an abandoned, run down city. God Has Internet keeps the ball rolling by introducing
plucking polyrhythms and harsh pads that set the feeling of metal touching cold crisp air.
Concluding Haris’ debut album is 020P1O1, a raw track likely inspired by that of Planetary
Assault Systems, with harsh snare drum buildups, moody arpeggiated synth lines, and
explosive drops that leave the listener in a trance like state.

Overall, Igranka is an ode to the sweaty dancefloors, raw energy, and eccentric
environments that define underground club culture as we know it. An amalgamation of all the
things that have truly helped shaped techno into what it is today.

Artist Bio:

Haris Avdic, professionally known as Assad Harri, is a techno producer from Gračanica,
Bosnia. Assad, meaning “Lion” in Arabic and Harri being a nickname, his name translates to
Haris the Lion. His name can definitely be reflected in the music he makes, with roaring synths
and powerful bass lines being the basis of his work. Inspired by the likes of Temudo, Oscar
Mulero, Zadig, and Lars Huismann, his music is a force to be reckoned with. Haris has honed in
on his production skills and techniques for the past 7 years, and is one of the newest names to
be on the lookout for in the underground scene. Expect big things coming from Assad Harri.
