I wrote “sermon on the mountain” thinking back to a few hidden spots in Lake Tahoe CA. and Breckenridge CO. places where I used to hike long before I was chasing faith, but somehow always felt God close. Years later, during a late-night writing session, those memories came rushing back, and this song poured out like a conversation I’d been meaning to have with Jesus for years.

It’s a song for winding roads and quiet overlooks, the moments when you finally shut off the noise, roll down the window, and let God speak. Acoustic guitars, open-sky melodies, and honest lyrics come together to capture that feeling of standing on a ridge, looking out over everything you’ve survived, and realizing you were never alone up there on the mountain.

7. Equinoxe 1/4/7 - Jean-Michel Jarre

This is an instrumental jazz duo track featuring Margaret Slovak on nylon-string guitar and Chris Maresh on acoustic bass. This beautiful song was written by the great trumpet player and composer Thaddeus (Thad) Jones in 1969 for the Mel Lewis Orchestra. Although it is not specifically a “Christmas” song, it evokes the hope, beauty and promise that one may experience when a new baby is born into the world. Margaret and Chris recorded this track in April 2024, at the same time that they recorded the 11 tracks that appear on their acclaimed 2024 Christmas/Winter Solstice CD, “A Star’s Light Does Fall.” Although “A Child Is Born” did not appear on their CD album, they have released it in December 2025 as a digital-only single.
