Placed beside Sinclair’s Ricky/Gunman What [2016] one-two for Keysound, the sino-futuristic instrumental pressure of Bells (RPG Mix) effectively doubles the London producer’s tally of releases in fine style, slyding along Far Eastern scales in weightless dimensions of liquified gamelan melody, zipping syn-flutes and fiyah-breathing Triton bass, all buffeted into sweepingly cinematic contours but all kept locked-on course for the dance and DJs in-the-mix.

Thanks to Sinclair’s up-to-the-minute mixing sorcery and discreet use of sampled dialogue, it’s a strong cut above the instrumental grime field right now, and a mighty strong look for any and all in orbit of grime and it’s current mutations.

Hi Tek Sounds is the new label from East Man, the East London producer and dance music historian also known as Basic Rhythm and Imaginary Forces. Following the release of his album Red, White & Zero on Planet Mu earlier this year, East Man returns with Stop Flapping Your Gums, Vol 1, a four-track EP which pushes his “hi tek” fusion of drum & bass, techno, dancehall and grime into austere new zones. ‘Twilight’ is the first track on the EP, a vicious grime deconstruction that’s been a bedrock of East Man’s recent sets.

Pev re-masters and re-issues a lead track from his debut LP 'Jarvik Mindstate' on Punch Drunk alongside a newly unearthed and previously unreleased track from 2008.

A leading protagonist of a nascent, more techno indebted sound in the 07/08 dubstep era, alongside peers such as Martyn, 2562 & Appleblim, Peverelist released a series of tracks that helped shape and define that scene. Alongside 'Infinity is Now' (Tectonic), Circling (w/ Appleblim – Skull Disco) and 'The Grind on Punch Drunk to name a few, Bluez was a standout track fusing melancholic Detroit style synths with the dub-wise aesthetics of the UK underground. Peverelist has since explored these themes further with his pioneering Livity Sound label. This release revisits the roots of his sound a decade on.
