this is a song that i wrote about missing being by the ocean. this one time me and a friend ended up on a beach that was almost definitely not public and i remember the drive through the hills and the sunset and how endless the ocean feels when all you can do is stare at it. anyway once more i am saying i miss my friends, and this time i am also saying i miss the fantasy of L.A., the optimism that comes from blinders on, feet deep in the sand. i hope you like it.

i wrote the first half of this topline the week of january 6th, and i finished it last week, because wow has january been a year. featured in this song is the violence at the capitol, the pandemic that literally still isn't over as much as people keep forgetting it, wall street and finance nonsense (shoutout reddit ayooo), that whole tiktok spying thing that was going on while facebook/instagram was literally recording people while they scrolled, and my general skepticism that this year will be much different than the last.
