This is by far the longest it's ever taken to make a song for me, and it was definitely probably worth it. I saw some covers of this and I really liked them (including the original song), so I tried to make my own cover myself.

I'd say it turned out pretty good!! This is probably my best song in this account. And take this as a little late New Years gift thing lol.

Story
Caonabo was a legendary Taíno chief, a symbol of indigenous resistance in Hispaniola against the Spanish conquest. His story is epic, tragic, and deeply inspiring.
Caonabo. The Lord of Maguana
In the mountainous heart of Maguana, where the stones spoke and the rivers sang, ruled Caonabo, a Taíno chief with a fierce gaze and indomitable spirit. His name, which in the Iñeri language means "he who has treasures," resounded like thunder among the forests of the Cibao. Married to the wise and brave Anacaona, sister of Chief Bohechío, Caonabo was feared for his ferocity in combat and respected by his people as a protector of the sacred land.
The Encounter with the Men of the Sea
In 1493, when Christopher Columbus's ships touched the northern coast of Hispaniola, Caonabo saw not explorers, but invaders. At Punta Flecha, his warriors launched a volley of arrows at the newcomers. Shortly after, he led the attack on Fort de la Navidad, built from the remains of the Santa María. There, Caonabo and his men destroyed the settlement and killed the 39 Spaniards guarding it.
The Trap of the Turey of Vizcaya
Alonso de Ojeda, sent by Columbus, devised a trap to capture the chieftain. He brought polished brass handcuffs, presenting them as "turey of Vizcaya," a divine gift. Caonabo, fascinated by the celestial sheen of the metal, accepted the gift and was chained. Although a prisoner, he never yielded. He despised Columbus, but stood up to Ojeda, recognizing his cunning in combat.
The Last Voyage
In 1496, Caonabo was sent to Spain to be exhibited before the Royal Court. But the sea, as if refusing to surrender the warrior, swallowed the ship in a storm. Caonabo drowned, far from his homeland, but his spirit never sank.
