Wave Of Hope

Over the last few months we’ve been working on a project that aims to raise awareness of an issue that keeps losing public awareness. In the hope of finding safety and protection in Europe and a fair asylum procedure, people are forced to cross the Mediterranean Sea in unseaworthy boats. Not only are state authorities and the European Union refusing to provide humanitarian aid, they are criminalizing civil sea rescue.
Because of this ongoing situation, we have started another fundraising campaign in order to make a small contribution to the essential work of Sea-Watch e.V. Their main goal is to try to save as many people as possible from drowning in the Mediterranean Sea. Additionally, they are committed to educating people about human rights violations at the European borders, for example with their podcast “Grenzerfahrung”.
We collected a variety of sounds by eight beloved artists to present our very first Various Artist EP: “Passages”.
All the collected proceeds will go straight to @seawatchcrew .

For the 36th podcast, we've invited @cyan85. The producer from the rough depths of Eastern Germany persuades with a laid-back weekend selection. He niftily combines sublime and atmospheric electro and house, audibly influenced by hip-hop vibes. Enjoy!

“Passages” is our very first Various Artist EP including a variety of sounds by nine beloved Artists. It marks the beginning of our fundraising campaign, including an event @://about blank and a t-shirt sale on our bandcamp page. In doing so, we want to raise awareness of an issue that keeps losing public awareness. In the hope of finding safety and protection in Europe and a fair asylum procedure, people are forced to cross the Mediterranean Sea in unseaworthy boats. Not only are state authorities and the European Union refusing to provide humanitarian aid, they are criminalizing civil sea rescue.
Because of this ongoing situation, we have started another fundraising campaign in order to make a small contribution to the essential work of Sea-Watch e.V. Their main goal is to try to save as many people as possible from drowning in the Mediterranean Sea. @vsonntag, the Leipzig-based DJ, started DJing techno back in 2019.
With a mix of driving beats, infectious grooves, and hypnotic minimal rhythms, her sets keep the energy flowing.

She's graced stages at well known clubs like Tresor, Rote Sonne, About Blank, and Institut für Zukunft, both locally and abroad in England, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Spain.

Being part of the Nebula collective, V:SONNTAG not only spins tunes but also plays a role in organizing events and managing a podcast series. Since the beginning of this year, she has been running the series „ Focus: “ to promote the visibility of FLINTA* artists.

For the 95th edition, we've invited @patejaar.

Pate Jaar, hailing from Tbilisi, founded DifferentSound in 2017, shaping a musical journey of his own.
DifferentSound Records, under Pate Jaar's leadership, appears to be more than just a record label. It seems to be a multifaceted organization involved in various aspects of the electronic music industry, including artist management, creative agency services, organizing events, and contributing to the techno scene in Tbilisi and beyond.

Overall, Pate Jaar seems to be deeply passionate about techno music and is actively involved in cultivating and promoting the genre, both locally and internationally.

As a DJ he is influenced by different styles in electronica, which clearly shows at the time when he propounds his own sound from the DJ booth. Kevin Ferhati, an American DJ/Producer based in Berlin, began his career in 2017. Known for his extensive output, his music combines obscure, melancholic, and ambient elements with ancient soundscapes. His deep connection to Berlin's dynamic music scene has continually evolved his sound, pushing him to explore new creative directions and refine his unique artistic vision.

For our episode 103, we have invited closer Milano Owner @rorsch-ack_closer 

Augusto, known as Rorschack, was born in Taranto in 1985 into a family of musicians.
Mastering keyboardsand drums from an early age, he transitioned to DJing, refining his skills in Rome and Florence before joining the Timeless crew in 2013.
His eclectic style blends electronic, techno, fast future-techno, and psytrance,earning him performances at prestigious venues like Suicide Circus, Rote Sonne, le Zoo/Usine, Tresor, ://about blank, and Griessmuehle. In 2015, he co-founded "Closer Milano," reshaping the global techno scene.
His performance at HOR Berlin in May 2022 marked a career highlight, while recent appearances at Closer parties alongside brands like Bassiani, Vault Sessions, and Meat Free Manchester, showcase hisversatility.
With releases on labels such as Ismus, Abstraction, Front Left Record, BCCO, RI7MO, Ghetto Rythm, Diffuse Reality, Oecus, Complex Fractals and Eram Records, Rorschack continues to inspire with his innovative productions and unwavering dedication to electronic music.

The 107th episode of Syntop Audio is presented by Jessie Granqvist.

Staple figure of the Swedish scene for more than a decade, @jessiegranqvist is a remarkable and versatile DJ with a deep musical culture and a true connection to the sound, always embracing progression and beauty in sound to provide truly hypnotising journeys. Having played with many of the best techno and electronic music artists of our scene over the years, she is a regular at clubs like Khidi in Georgia or Tresor in Berlin alongside being one of the reference artists in the Stockholm scene for many years.

For the last Syntop Audio of the year we´ve invited Ryan James Ford.

While growing up in western Canada in the 1990’s, Ryan James Ford was introduced
to electronic music through the local rave and club scene. He began to discover,
study, and collect the music he heard at these parties which consisted of a mix of
Jungle, UK hardcore, Techno, House, IDM, and ambient.
Ryan’s love for early Warp, Metalheads, Metroplex, Tresor, Skam, Downwards, and
other pioneering labels continues to influence his dynamic productions and DJ sets.

For our 110th edition, we're happy to have @lomi-hack

Lomi is a musician exploring the intersection of sound and architecture. Since co-founding BRUTALISM in 2015, he has used the label as a cultural research platform to investigate sonic forms through materials, textures, and structure.
This mix is a live recording of his opening set at Open Ground in July 2024. It features some personal favorites he wanted to revisit before setting the tone for the night while exploring contemporary techno’s cutting-edge sounds.

The 111st episode of Syntop Audio is presented by Jack Fresia.

The Italian DJ and producer @Jackfresia has been living in Amsterdam since 2015. On top of his DJ and Live Performance career, he is currently teaching music production at Deep House Academy and has been the label head at Modular Side Music since 2019. His love for the underground sounds, is present in everything he does, so expect a focus on synthetic landscapes, dark and evolving ambiences from his modular rig.

Italian-born, Glasgow-based DJ and producer b.mod steps up with a vinyl mix that reflects the full spectrum of his sonic identity. As co-founder of Rhythm Werk and with releases on Arts, Liberta and more, b.mod has carved out a sound that’s built on deep grooves and precision-crafted energy.

For this episode, he delves into his record collection, starting with his softer selections, gradually building towards the harder edge of his taste.
Expect a vinyl set that is rich in rhythm, layered in texture, and true to b.mod’s sound.

From a young age, Benabou developed a strong
affinity for the fluid sounds of jazz, soul, and
psychedelic music, which naturally led her to infuse

Keex is a Berlin-based DJ and co-founder of xcuse:u collective. Inspired by genre-fluid artists like Avalon Emerson and Octo Octa and grounded in her love for house music, Keex’ musical works drifts between deep bass lines, crisp percussion, and dreamy synth lines. Whether it’s the raw energy of breakbeat, the warmth of Latin grooves, the dubby pull of low frequencies, or the euphoria of a vocal hook, she is drawn to sounds that tickle both the head and the heart. Right now, Keex is searching for that special sweet spot - with a pleasantly low-profile groove, bass-driven warmth, and unexpected turns along the way.

BBY G is a Berlin-based DJ and co-founder of the xcuse:u collective. While her usual sets leaned more toward classic house, she has recently shifted her focus to dubby sounds and a steady groove. This new direction is marked by subtle rhythmic variations, deep textures and an emphasis on flow rather than big peaks. Drawing on diverse influences, she creates momentum through layering and progression, balancing energetic tracks with more hypnotic passages. The result is a sound that feels grounded yet versatile, keeping the energy flowing while opening space for surprises.

As xcuse:u member, coppi co-host, Florida Eis lover and the radio voice for coppi brunch on THF Sophia found her footing in Berlin. For Syntop she grabbed two handfuls of records, combining recent digs with longtime favorites.

DJ Chichi is a genre-fluid selector, co-founder of @xcuseu.kollektiv, resident @refugeworldwide and recently launched her invites series at @arkaodaberlin
In this mix she's leaning towards slower, dub-heavy tunes with a lot of room to breath. Because - let's face it - we all need that.

Syntop Audio 118 - DJ Chichi

As @counterchange-inland, British artist Ed Davenport crafts forward-thinking techno rooted in clarity and tension. Now based in Neuruppin after 15 years in Berlin, Ed continues to run his labels Counterchange and Globuli.

Also known for his warm and colourful take on house music, explorative ambient electronics, and more recently for film scores and sound design for contemporary art, Ed moves across formats and contexts with a singular sense of detail, shaping music that resonates far beyond the dancefloor.

For the first Podcast in 2020 we invited MRD. The norwegian DJ and producer is "one of the most exciting things to happen to the Norwegian club scene for ages".

Besides impressive shows at Atonal Berlin in 2019 and her residency at Tame-parties, she worked together with Ensemble Basiani for her latest project, to create an exceptional performance at CTM this year.  
In her mix for Wave of Hope, Nene H, who is known for her dynamic gigs, comes back to the roots of impulsive and percussive Techno while she always sets fresh new accents.

Started as an online project by the Italian artist Alberto Guerrini in 2011, the aim was to create a bridge between the sonic landscape and the aesthetic side of Hardcore and post rave cultures. 
In his mix he shapes the landscape by merging noise, deep textures and hardcore soul with a good amount of cutting punch.

SYNTOP FUNDRAISER FOR WAVE OF HOPE

It's the eighth and last podcast of our charity series to raise money for „Wave of Hope for the Future” - an initiative founded by refugees for refugees in the camps at the borders of Europe.
They promote education in the camps by building schools, organizing educational material and supporting teachers. Art and languages form the basis of the education that is made available.

The eighth contributor is Varg2™.
Head of Northern Electronics, Jonas Rönnberg, is one of the most creative and productive artists in the past years. Under his moniker Varg2™ and a variety of contributions to projects like The Empire Line, he had a vast output on labels like Nothern Electronics, Posh Isolation and Semantica. 
For Wave of Hope he bounced a fresh and powerful mix, including several unreleased stuff, out of his summerhouse in Sweden.
