This week we welcome Steyoyoke resident artist MPathy to take care of episode #67.

Bio:

Berlin based DJ/Producer, MPathy, developed a strong interest for electronic music at a very young age. Growing up in the city of Berlin he was highly influenced by the electronic music scene in the 90’s. He later spent a couple of years in Chicago and also in Shanghai where he got involved with the local electronic music scenes, which ultimately shaped his outlook on electronic music today. With Techno music and DJing being his greatest passion for a long time, he started to work on his own productions in 2008. Since then he has produced Techno, Tech-House and Minimal music for various record labels.
After finishing his audio engineering studies in 2012 he joined the Berlin based Ethereal Techno label Steyoyoke. MPathy is responsible for the first and most successful Steyoyoke release in collaboration with Antonio Olivieri, ‘If I Were Music’. He played gigs all over Europe, Brazil and Africa and shared the decks with Oxia, Coeus, BLANCAh, Rauschhaus and Ran Salman, just to name a few.
MPathy is eager to push off in his own direction to continue to both challenge and provoke existing concepts of making unique and forward thinking music.

From his base in Berlin, Soul Button has made a notable impact on the global scene. As the mastermind behind labels like Steyoyoke, Steyoyoke Black, and Inner Symphony, he is on the forefront of delivering high-end and thoughtful dance music. Adding an emotive quality to his work he calls Ethereal Techno, his production skills are well-regarded too. Moreover, when you take into account his online presence, which ranges from Steyoyoke TV to his Steyoyoke podcast, both mediums showing the best contemporary progressive has to offer, it’s easy to see why Soul Button's international recognition solidifies him as one of the global scene’s most trusted voices. And as shown on this Balance Selections mix, that label is highly deserved.

The fifth episode of the microcastle podcast welcomes label artists Chicola & Sahar Z. The Israeli duo have been at the heart of Tel Aviv's electronic music culture for the last 20 years. A collective discography including Bedrock, Lost & Found, Suara and Sudbeat, along with an increasingly busy gig schedule have made Chicola and Sahar two of the underground's most sought after talents. Their recently released 'It Happened One Night EP' enjoyed great success, earning support and play from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Guy Mantzur, Sasha, Stephan Bodzin, Maceo Plex,  Agents of Time, Pig & Dan, Furcoat and more. The release went on to reach the #1 position in Beatport's electronica chart for six consecutive days, also reaching #6 in the overall Top 100 and #3 and #2 in Techno and Progressive House respectively. 

The art of music programming is somewhat lost in today's younger generation of DJs. Growing up and opening for Danny Tenaglia, Sasha, John Digweed, Laurent Garnier and Carl Craig has instilled this art form in the duos blood. It's something that in over two decades of DJing has remained a huge proponent of their sets. One where each and every gig is an unforgettable journey with electric vibes and captivating sound stories. Although not normally performing together, Chicola and Sahar have prepared a special 80 minute mix for their microcastle podcast. Beginning with an exclusive and unreleased intro version of the duo's 'It Happened One Night', the mix methodically works its way through deep grooves and warm ambient textures, ultimately building to more distinct motifs and melodious techno, before an emotive finale takes you home. Highlighting the mix are several unreleased projects along with a few selections from their recently released EP and a few surprises as well. It's a journey you're going to continually discover new things about, so we suggest just sitting back and getting lost in the music. Enjoy!
