An artist who has showcased powerhouse sets at Let Them Eat Cake’s main stage, Pitch Music & Arts iconic Pitch Black Stage, and Novel’s signature smalltown event, this release comes highly anticipated.

Written during Melbourne’s extensive lockdown in 2021, the EP explores genres house, breakbeat, nu-jazz, experimental, incorporates spoken word poetry, and Marli’s own vocals. While it dips its toes into being defined as dance music, as always, Marli has executed her signature style beautifully, one that offers more than your average club track. It evokes complex emotions, featuring rich tones and instrumentation, and a sense of nostalgia unlike any other artist.

“Mood Independent” feels like an apt title for this project. I’m proud to have curated, written, produced, and mixed the entire project myself. I didn’t show these works to anyone while writing them - or for a long time after they were finished. Mainly because I wanted to trust my own creative instincts so completely, and not be influenced by others opinions. This was really scary, and at times made me insecure, but I’m really proud of the final project, and I think it feels like the truest expression of me, and my style” - Marli

This month we have a special 3 hour aLOLa Podcast (episode 10) with your host Omid 16B and special guests Roland Klinkenberg and Darin Epsilon sharing their musical vision and flavours.

To see the year end off nicely we start the show with Omid 16B’s first hour from a recent set at one of London’s most intimate venues “Basing House” with label friends Zombie Soundsystem hosting the event (13th December 2014), recorded live capturing the dynamics and soul yet pushing the limit on merging various styles and genres in house music.

On the second hour we are joined by one of Hollands finest producers Roland Klinkenberg with some dubbed out action, adding his own interpretation of mystery and love for the more subtle textures, in addition showcasing his remix of “Casablanca” by Marc Prause for aLOLa due out early 2015.

For the final and additional third hour we welcome Darin Epsilon who recently released “Peridot” on SexOnWax (aLOLa’s sister label), jumping on decks with an energy packed, more up tempo set showing us why he is one of USA’s most respected DJ/ Producers.

SystemDisco unveils his full bag of tricks on this track. It blossoms as you listen to it, moving through different stages and providing some truly surprisingly mood swings along the way. It is exotic by damaging some smooth sounds with harsh effects, producing an overall sound of deep bass, a tsunami of percussion, and filtered and effect leads and what might even sound vaguely like a vocal. This Exotic Blossom is something to be savoured, played loud, smelt, and ultimately, enjoyed.
