From the depths of the apartment, swirling, downed, fussy drums are heard. An arabesque of loud vocal samples playfully jumps over the hummocks of a funky beat, making its way through a string of distorted, sometimes convulsive rhythm.

Someone is rushing around the room, putting on shiny leggings in front of the mirror and setting off the eyelids with the color of Jacko's last breath, and someone, blurring in a euphoric smile, can't get up from the chair an hour before the party.

The sounds of vicious, garage pleasure can continuously replace each other in different guises: charismatic bass incarnation, the dominance of sharp and lumpy dubstep bottoms, ripe synthesizer loops, irrational 2-step patterns and even compliant jungle drops with ragga tunes.

Each element is equivalent, so anything can get into your head. This music, which has rightfully become an integral part of British culture, grew up together with its listeners, who did not have time to blink an eye, as they got families, replacing bright parties with lamp gatherings at the home sound system.

This is not about deconstructing the style, but about its modern reincarnation and an attempt to add more soul to the second various within the framework of the Spezial Series from GLBDOM.

Seven talented producers pull out all the stops on our fourth All Stars compilation, with most venturing into unknown territory to showcase a different shade of their sonic palette. Believe us, this one’s got something for everyone. 
 
Kicking things off are TIN mainstays Soul Mass Transit System who team up with LA producer Introspekt on a super slick, super sexy garage house track, peppered with irresistible vocal licks and bubbly organ melody. Next up it’s up-and-comer Yemi who, following his label debut - a soulful UKG 6-tracker - explores his high-speed inclinations with a hefty jungle cut made cinematic by choral singers. The third track may sound familiar to some - SMTS’ UKG reimagined by Bakey as skippy breakbeat, with funk-inspired brass stabs injecting playfulness and dynamism into an already-classic tune. 
 
Daffy is up next with a raucous breaks number undergirded by the growl of a warped reese bass before Groovy D strips things back with some tuneful UKG, complete with vocal licks and a piano melody. Finally, it’s up to Japanese jack of all trades Stones Taro to close proceedings. ‘Rise Up’ is an assertive electro-inspired track with an acid melody and cosmic soundscape.

Valencia's Nacho Marco has an incredibly impressive back catalogue, with releases on brilliant labels including Freerange, Plastic City, Lazy Days, Ovum, We Play House and his own excellent Loudeast imprint too. Now added to the list is the irrepressible Chiwax, with his “The 909 Files" EP. 

Each track is simply titled 'File 1' through to “File 4“, so let's kick things off in the usual order. "File 1“ is a powerhouse of percussion and keys, with an almost Reese-esque bassline rumbling underneath. The weight of the kicks and the metronomic rattle of the rimshots thunders the track along, making this a very impressive opener. 

“File 2" slows the BPM down a few notches, the drums are again super-heavy (being from the 909, as the EP title gives away), but this time the keys take a softer approach, with glorious floating pads underpinning the mellow mood here. A wonderfully woozy closer to the A-side. 

Flipping over for “File 3“ on the B-side, the 909 is joined by our old friend the M1 bassline, with clipped vox parts adding to the energy pulsing through the track. Swinging along in a fashion reminiscent of classics such as  Kerri Chandler et'al, this is a superb straight-up warm house jam. 

Rounding the EP off, “File 4’"is built around a stabby church organ riff which nags away throughout the track, the punchy percussion and tinkling chords coming together in a swirl of joyous depth for the dancefloor. The bassline chugs away with its neat bounce, echoing the thump of the unmistakable 909 kicks, closing the EP off in the style it maintains throughout, namely exquisite dancefloor-driven house music which has a real timeless quality.

This will be the A1 on the 3nd EP on the Council Work label, the title track of the EP from label owners Frankel & Harper. Honoured to have the Salty Nuts head honcho Fabe on board for the remix! The track, and the whole EP continues to set the label signature sound. The EP will also feature another original track entitled 'Use The Herb' with a remix from Orbital London boss Jack Michael.

After the incredible response our debut release got Gather Recordings are back with the Blue Cookie EP, 4 classy steppers to chase away those lock-down blues those days we can dance together again seem all the closer. On the A side Bluetoof serves up 2 cuts of his jazz tinged bomb Mistakes. The Gradient mix is pure peak time material with the growling almost Reese style bassline sitting underneath that haunting section for some serious dancefloor magic. The Original mix is a more restrained take on the same theme but still packs more than enough low end to hold its own in the dance. Over on the B side Soundboy Cookie comes correct with that 90's era Chris Mack style shuffle on jazzy 2 stepper Brooklyn Swing before taking into darker but equally classy territory with Mic Professional.
